It's pretty simple for my because my hair isn't long by any means (it about chin length at most.) I first wash my hair with shampoo and rinse. After that I run my hands over my hair to squeeze out excess water. Then I go to town slathering up my hair in conditioner.
Usually just putting conditioner in my hair loosens up the tangles. I also run my fingers through my hair a bit before attempting to comb it. I part my hair and comb downward. If I'm having trouble I will either add more condition to that spot and finger detangle or put my head under the shower so that running water can loosen it up more as I comb. After my hair is detangled and I have showered I rinse out the conditioner while finger combing my hair downward as to not cause more tangles and to insure that most of conditioner has been washed away.
I only detangle in the shower. I seperate into 4 sections, load each section with condish (usually vo5 or suave) and take my seamless comb from root to tip, and only under running water.
I only detangle in the shower. I use a detangling conditioner. Usually GVP Paul Mitchell - The Detangler. I use a wide tooth comb. I have several like the one below. Greatest comb EVER!!! I don't detangle in sections. I know a lot of people do, I'm just too lazy.
In the shower with a wide tooth comb and loads of conditioner. I am wasteful with that stuff just straight up wasteful....and I don't care.....and I don't plan too stop..... In the summer I was going through a bottle and a half of tresseme (and those are big!) a week! I don't section I just go in a half circle from ear to ear with the water running over the area I am working on. Then I part my hair and comb it again before I get out.
I stand under the shower head, drench my hair with water and lots of conditioner (preferably Suave Almond and Shea Butter), and let in soak in for a few minutes while I shower. Afterwards, I comb my hair in two sections (now) with my wide-toothed comb under the shower head, while I'm also rinsing my hair.
I Oil rinse - I cover, I mean absolutely slather my hair with oil and then apply conditioner on top of that a few hours later. All this is done in sections. When I'm ready to rinse it all out, I get under the shower and just use my fingers, fingercombing all the shed hairs out. At this point I hardly even need to detangle. Most knots have melted away.
i have a weave right now but ususally i run some water over my hair then i wash w/ giovanni 50:50 (always pre-poo w/ oils and sometimes condish 1st) and load it up with slippery conditioner (like aussie moist)and cowash and then finger detangle, sometimes going back up under the water if i need too...apply GVP Paul Mitchell Detangler (which make my hair butter soft), and run my fingers through one more time to make sure i got all the shed hairs and then i rinse that out and apply a DC
