I've been having breakage off and on for a few months and I'm about to nip it in its butt! From your experience which one is better?

the hard core aphoghee treatment. when i first came to the board, I used it for maybe 6 months. It is THE thing that initially stopped my hair from breaking. When I used to comb my hair, it would fall out like a gentle snow :-0

Make sure you do a heavy DC afterwards. And do buy the aphoghee moisturizer that is supposed to go with it (read the bottle). It really does work to help soften the hair back up.

The only hardcore protein i've used is Nexxus Emergencee but it was good enough to make me buy it again, i use keracare humecto as a follow up. It makes your hair strong, smooth shiny and oh so strong.

Aphogee 2 step for me :yep: I have nothing bad to say about it...it's great! When I rinse it out my hair is very soft & strong (I know this isn't common)...yeah but definitely follow up with a moisturizing DC

I think a little more information about the state of your hair and your regimen will help. If your breakage is being caused by protein overload then those products you listed will cause more breakage.

Aphogee is absolutely awesome!! Now emergencee is great too, under the dryer with no cap!! But ladies please dont sleep on emergencia its also good... I have all of these. Aphogee I use every 6 weeks.. Cant wait to get home, time to use Aphogee... Thanks for the reminder.

I really do not have a routine to be honest. I oil my hair during the week with Parnevu Tea Tree Scalp Oil. I wash my hair every 3 weeks at the hairdresser whenever I can. Or I do it at home... that's about it. I so need to get serious about my hair and deal with this breakage. It's gotten so thin and I hate it!!!!

from what you have said it doesn't seem to be a protuen overload so I would def. suggest Aphogee 2 step followed w. a vey moisturizing DC:yep:

hmm i saw emergencee the other day at tjmaxx...maybe i'll get it..i was trying to control the pj in me

I love Emmergencee. I clarify, apply it, sit under the dryer until hard (no cap), rinse, and DC. It keeps breakage at bay. I tried the Aphogee 2 step before and even after DCing with a very good moisturizing DC my hair didn't feel as soft as it should. I never get that with Emergencee. My hair always feels soft, moisturized and strong. It is a little expensive but well worth the money.

Well I can only vote for the Aphogee 2 step since that is all I use every 6-8 weeks. I have experienced no breakage and I am 8 mths post right now.

I love me some Aphogee 2 step........Plus its the only I have used on the list. I don't like how it runs, sticky mess, and the smell. It gets the job done.

i voted aphogee. immediately puts a hold on breakage for me, and makes my strands super strong. and people complain of the smell but i like it... reminds me of apple cider and collard greens

I just want to co-sign on the comment made by the women who said that unless you know your regimen, the products mentioned could actually make your breakage worse.

If it's breaking because it is dry, you don't need a hard core protein. You need moisture. Tea Tree oil is not necessarily moisture. The way you can know is that if you pull a strand of hair when it is wet and it breaks easily and immediately with no elasticity in your hair, you need moisture.

If, while wet, it stretches forever and ever (not really, but you know what I mean. It stretches overly long.) then you have too much moisture already and need protein. In THIS instance, the products recommended will help you.

You need to make sure of which one is causing the breakage by doing a wet strand test, okay? Otherwise, you could cause a bigger setback, and that is the worst thing at the moment, since you are trying to get it to STOP breaking.

Both too little moisture and too little protein can cause breakage....as can too much.

I hope you figure it out before you apply a remedy.

I hope this helps you. Healthy and happy hair growing!!

Blessings,

Christi

I don't know about you but my breakage is from a lack of protein. Other than using a light protein DC every other week and Aphogee 2 Step every 2 months my hair is not getting any protein. I've just recently started using a 50/50 mix of protein and moisture leave-ins for my daily leave in spray (right now it's VO5 Detangle and Shine and Aphogee Pro Vitamin) and pretty soon I'll be investing in a couple protein shampoos (Optimum Care Anti-Breakage Stay Strong Shampoo and Profectiv Mega Growth shampoo).

I'm thinking about trying the Aphogee 2-step, but I don't know how it will work on my hair. Any natural 3c/b have success with it?

I'm not 3b/c, but I am 4a/b, and I have excellent success with the 2-step treatment. I was using it every 6 weeks, but my hair is in a state where I think I can go down to every 12 weeks (including Emergencee and K-Pak at 4 week intervals). I think as long as you use it AS DIRECTED, and follow up with a deeeeeeppp conditioner, you should be good. I tend to use something like SitriNillah mixed with JBCO under a steamer for 35 minutes, and my hair has zero breakage as a result.
