My mom just got a sew in on Friday... and she called to tell me about it, I'm like yeah, now you just keep those in for two months and you will have an inch of new length! And she's like yeah, that's what she was saying at the salon... and then I'm like, yeah, you'll retain a lot of growth that way, it's called hiding your hair... and she's like mmhmm yeah that's what she was telling me

:lachen::lachen: I call myself finally trying to ease on in there with some good hair care tips that actually might not get ignored and she's only believing me this time because a hair stylist done already told her... and the specific terminology and six inches a year and all that just felt like to me she was an LHCFer... so if you are a Chicago stylist and did some high yellow lady's sew in on Friday do not give her a trim when she comes back!!! :lachen:

PS I'm doing an extreme no manip challenge for summer and I used one of my passes the other day to straighten my hair... I was THAT bored even though I knew I shouldn't... but the person I was streaming wireless from must have moved out or something and now I don't have any internet anymore :( so I'm extra bored all day... anyway, I see about an inch or three quarters of an inch progress from the last time I straightened... which is so encouraging especially since I am planning on retaining most (if not almost all) of the length I grow in over this three and a half month stretch...

I didn't try very hard to get it super straight, I just ran the flat iron through it a couple times... it wasn't damp, but I sprayed w/ my water mixture and then put on some heat protectant so it was a little misty... my hair was sooooooooo soft the next day I had to wash it just so I would be able to keep my hands out of it

I definitely see a lot of progress, and it is so exciting and a little awesome (in an intimidating way) for the first time to really believe APL is in reach... :lick::lick::spinning::spinning::yep::yep: I can't believe it! So I'm going to really work hard this summer and try to only straighten one other time so I can be surprised in August.

Well, hope y'alls summer hair plans are going well too!

I'm not a stylist but I am in Chicago. Ummm...where did your mother go? I have a good stylist but am always looking for someone closer than the 25 miles I go (especially with ga$ costing what it does:ohwell:).

I'm not in Chicago, I just wanted to say your hair is pretty. Congrats on your progress!
