Ok.......so I'm doing the TWA Grow-out challenge and I've been thinking of what to do when I get at least 6 inches or so. Here are my options:

1) Ask the hair specialist to use a mild relaxer on my hair for about 10 minutes or so. Although my hair will still be afro-textured (I'm a 4a/b and I've done this myself before), it would be much easier to comb than my natural hair. I would then get my hair blow-dried and flat-ironed when I want to wear it straight . I could also then flat-twist it for a curly/wavy afro.

2) Ask the hair specialist to use a mild relaxer for about 15-20 minutes . Here, I'll have more of a wet/wavy look with air-dried hair. Also, I could perhaps use the rollerset method for straightening my hair instead of heat.

*******SHORT CUT VERSION*********

As you can see, I plan on using a mild relaxer regardless. The main question is just how relaxed I want it. I'm actually leaning more towards method two because I'm excited about being able to have a wash 'n wear hair again:

(I'd done option 2 this last summer and it was wonderful....the only problem was that I did the relaxer myself. Not only was it unevenly relaxed, but it started breaking when I tried to do a retouch

Please comment ya'll....I'm interested in everyone's input

I think the wash and wear wavy would be really cute. I guess my only question is, would you miss the volume and thickness of option #1 ?

exactly Miss Amazon!

The thing is, I still had alot of volume last summer w/ the option 2 (that I did myself

I'm trying to forumlate a clear way to tell the hair specialist that I'll hook up with.

I want a good relationship w/ my future hair specialist. Even if I have to go to an expensive salon, I want to be able to trust someone.

Also, it seems as if only the expensive salons have mandatory consultations. The one thing I can't stand is a hair specialist who doesn't care about what you want or ask you questions! Ugh!

- it is me

Whichever you choose, I wish you luck. They both sound really cute.
Hopefully a few of the texturizing diva's will help you decide.

if you do number two it will eventually start breaking and you will have perm. stright hair on the ends

So my vote it for #1
you can get the wet and wavy look with this also. Plus you can rollerset or use heat

You know, Prada, now that you mention it....I remember what happened to my hair last summer even before it started breaking:

After wearing the wet/wavy look for a while, I decided to see how it looked straight. So, my hair stylist blow-dried and flat-ironed it......MY HAIR WAS NEVER THE SAME AGAIN!

Hmm.....I'm gonna look up the roller-set method. Maybe I'll try not using heat at all

ETA: After seeing your pics, I think #1 is the best option.
Your face is so cute, I think you should keep the option of a fro.
Also, you can rollerset your less texturized hair, get it straight, and not use direct heat. imo
