Do you have access to a Dominican salon? If so let them straighten your hair with a set and blowdryer. It will come out looking like you had a relaxer and their type of heat doesn't compromise your natural texture.

Yes it does. Any type of direct heat can damage your natural texture. If you're going to the Dom salon I would suggest getting just your roots blown and not the whole length of the hair though. That will be less heat but it's still heat.

Hang in there, girl! I've been transitioning for about six months now and I'm doing the crown & glory method so my new growth isn't really much of an issue while it's in braids. When I take the braids out, I usually do a braid-out, phony-pony, wash-n-go or bun. I'm having a ball experimenting and getting used to my new hair but I have to admit these stringy ends are driving me crazy. Not crazy enough to BC but sooner or later something's gotta give!

A couple of months into my transition, I did texturize to help me control the new growth, but now I'm not even tempted to put any chemicals in my hair.

Good luck with your transition!

Thanks girl. I ended up combing my hair out before I went to bed. I had TONS of hair on the floor, sink, and in the comb. But I was able to comb through my roots. I just can not stand not being to put a comb through my head. I guess my roots just kind of matted up from me not combing it. I don't know. I just know I don't want it to happen again.

I'm in the Hide Your Hair Challenge, so I can't wear my hair down. But I do plan to get a blowout before I go completely natural. I'm willing to compromise the heat for one blowout. As long as I don't have a lot of natural hair. I'm too afraid of losing my natural texture from it.
