Honeyhips

Lovely
Hi all, I've been doing the hair thing for awhile but slacked off when I stopped coming to different boards. I want my hair to be shiny, strong and long. Right now my hair is very dry b/c of the winter weather, and it is growing alright I guess. So what vitamins or products will work very well w/ dry hair, and length.
I used to take these and will order them again. Also where do you order your vitamins from, I go to vitaminshoppe.com, and how long did it take before you noticed growth.
Here is my list:
400IU of Vitamin E
1000mcg of Biotin
500mg of Ester C
Zinc Chelate 15mg
Kals Silica plus
Earth Source MultiNutrient
100MG B-Complex

Ok don't talk about me to bad, but I don't remember how much of what I took or why. Any suggestions.

I used to use shea butter religiously on my hair, but I am not sure if it really penetrated it.

I also am not sure how much my hair grew during that time. I didn't measure. I did lose a lot of weight in my stomach b/c of that B-complex.

So what do you ladies think?

Hiya Honeyhips!

I'm no expert, but I do have dry hair. Well, did actually. It's getting better with every wash I suppose. I'm sure the hair care experts will be around to answer your questions in a bit. But since I am here, and have dry hair, I'll tell ya what has helped me. For dry hair, I believe the washing at least twice a week, and washing with condtioner works better than just using regular shampoo. At least trying it once weekly. Shampoo dries my hair out. Maybe I just have not lucked up on the right one. A lot of people recommend Creme of Nature Shampoo for dry hair. You may want to try that. Oh, I almost forgot. Mizani makes a nice shampoo, and so does Nexxus. Their Boton Oil shampoo is not bad. I believe that I will use more of the condtioner washes though. Also, keep your ends moist!! And I try to stick with products that provide a lot of slip, or that are really natural. I just take a daily multi vitamin. I am not to familiar with what works well yet. Someone will be along to help you in a bit I am sure. Check out the post on everyone's hair regimen. That's really helpful!! Take care! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well thank you very much for replying. I've been trying to read up on the boards, over 200 pages, goodness!!!! I've gotten a lot of info. Now my head hurts /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/wink.gif!!!

For dryness I've been taking evening primrose and flaxseed oil softgel capsuls. It is really helping me with the cold winter air. My skin is also benefiting. I use a shea/oil mixture on my hair and I find it works much better on my hair when it's wet. It keeps my hair moisturised and shiny.

Honeyhips,
Try hot oil & honey treatments. This was recommended to me by CarmenRose and they help a whole lot! Just make sure you do them on wet hair. I just use a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Castor Oil and a little honey and get under the dryer for 20 min. Big difference in the moisture level of my hair! I make sure I use a moisturizing shampoo (Creme of Nature) and conditioner (Motions Moisture Plus) as well!

I also started the EFA pills which have Evening Primrose Oil, and Omega 3 fish oils in them.
