Where is the search button?

Yes Nonie, if I switch to the advanced search and I select everything you have selected (search for titles, on the haircare and natural living forums) then I get your same 18 results.

If I don't use the advanced mode, then the search button brings out a bit of everything. (the search button on the right was sort of already advanced, this one needs me to refine my search)

You thought so? I found it to be a nightmare and annoying coz it was everything but advance, IMO. LOL

I like LHCF search coz you can even select that you want results from a certain period or if you know whose post you are looking for, you can enter their name and find their posts or threads they started. You can even preselect what areas you want searched so that it's not going all over the place to find every place the word has been used.

I wonder if this is why people say they searched and couldn't find what they were looking for so post redundant threads? :scratchch If Google Search is what y'all were using, it makes sense.

Exactly, google never let me down. I seriously hate that it's just like the BHM model. I use google for that too. I guess I'll have to search LHCF just like I do BHM.

If anyone still wants to google, type "site:longhaircareforum.com" in the google bar and after you type in above put in what your searching for.

EX:
"site:longhaircareforum.com Redken"

You should get everything on redken on the lhcf, and so on.

yeah, I like the other search button better:(

Well no need to pout since a few PPs have shown you how to still have the "search abilities" (or lack thereof  ) that the button you miss had.

Here's a reminder of how you do it from Yoshi:

Yoshi, I guess looking for Redken gave better results, but page two those ^^ results was exactly as I expected: totally irrelevant and unhelpful coz they were about other things. Just any mention of Redken in a thread about something else popped up on page 2 of Google results.

But doing it LHCF way gave me 149 topics all with REDKEN in the heading. If I were depending on Google, the results I'd get would be so limited...

For example these threads do not show up on Google search and from the viewership/readership they seem like they were threads that folks found useful/helpful, and Google would withhold these goods or push them many pages back. And who's got time to comb through a hundred useless threads trying to find the gems.

I didn't put in a lot of work. All I did is in the attachment I just showed you, then all those threads appear with their titles so you can zoom in on the one that interests you.

It only was a headache coz I had to do it one by one for you, but if you enter the criteria I used, you'll get the results yourself.

Use "shampoo bars" as the search word
Select SEARCH TITLES ONLY

Then hold down the control key and select the forums to be searched HAIR and NATURAL LIVING

Then hit enter, and your results display as clearly as day.

Thank you so much, Nonie!!!!!

The problem was that I hadn't selected "SEARCH TITLES ONLY" after I clicked on the advanced search.

The non-Google search feature isn't the montrosity I thought it was after all. This experience was very enlightening.:)
