...prepare? Right now I'm barely 10 weeks post. I want to go for 14 weeks but my roots are soo thick. How am I going to relax this? My hair is already super thick with a perm. How can I separate my layers?

And by the way let me mention that I am a self relaxer. No money for a stylist other people have damaged my hair. :wallbash:I'm switching over to a kiddie texturizer ( hopefully this will give me more time to apply and I won't have to smooth my hair as straight).

Umm I had a problem with time before. The front would be super straight and the back would be ...hopeless. I would rush the back and it lead to severe breakage there that's starting to level off now. My hair grew from ear length to armpit in the front. In the back my hair was many different lengths some only a couple of inches long. The longer I stretch my hair the less it breaks. Weird, I know. Please any advice will help!!!

...prepare? Right now I'm barely 10 weeks post. I want to go for 14 weeks but my roots are soo thick. How am I going to relax this? My hair is already super thick with a perm. How can I separate my layers? For me...my newgrowth is thick and kinky but my hair is fine/thin. The week before I self relax I do a hardcore Aphogee treatment followed by a moisturizing deep conditioning under the heating cap for 20-30 minutes. I airdry in 2 braids then flat iron (paying close attention to how much newgrowth I have). When I do my touch-up, it's easier to get through my newgrowth.

And by the way let me mention that I am a self relaxer. No money for a stylist other people have damaged my hair. :wallbash:I'm switching over to a kiddie texturizer ( hopefully this will give me more time to apply and I won't have to smooth my hair as straight). First...I would be very careful switching chemicals. A texturizer is very different from a relaxer. Why not try changing relaxers if you want to be texlaxed. Mizani Butter Blends works for me even if I leave it in for the full amount of time. I actually switched from the mild to the regular (which has never happened in my life) and my hair still comes out texlaxed. I love that my hair seems thicker from texlaxing but I've noticed that I have to be more careful because my curls tend to tangle more than bone straight hair.

Umm I had a problem with time before. The front would be super straight and the back would be ...hopeless. I would rush the back and it lead to severe breakage there that's starting to level off now. There are some incredible women on lhcf that relax in two sessions instead of relaxing the whole head at once....do a search. Also, some women mix oils, etc. into the relaxer to add some relaxing time (I don't know much about these methods but I've seen some of the threads). I know how you feel though. I have quite a few different textures going through my hair from self-texlaxing but I've finally got it down. It does take some time to find your stride but you will....don't give up. I've found that if I seperate my sections ahead of time, it cuts down on the amout of time it takes me to relax. Also, try changing up the sections that you relax first (ie: if you normally relax the front first, try relaxing the back first instead).

I hope this helps :yep:

It never crossed my mind to use a plastic cap. I thought that it was impossible to not get relaxer or shampoo on one side while working on the other. Thank u very much. That was a duh moment I had there.

On your last wash before the relaxer deep condition and try lightly blowing out your hair focusing on the roots with a blow dryer to loosening and detangling the new growth. Also Pre section your parts with plastic clips.
