You've got to realize, ladies, we're lucky. We had the best hair ever. When it does get long, it's because it's strong and it's the most beautiful thing to see. We can grow our hair long, and then slap it in braids and STILL look gorgeous. My hair has been growing like a weed since conditioning washes, air dryer and scurl no-drip but for a break, I've put in braids (with human hair) and it still looks good. You've got to admit, we've got the best of both worlds. We can leave it out and grow it long, braid it, twist it, everything up to and including, "flipping it, smacking it and rubbing it down" (I couldn't resist..) and it STILL looks beautiful. I'm happy...and I love our hair...What a blessing this board is. Just wanted to share some love...call it mushy, call me delirious...but I love it.

You're right Leshia. We are blessed to have each other as well as the versatility of our beautiful hair. ROCK ON SIS!

PS. You sound like an herbal essences commercial!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very well said Leshia and I completely agree.

Now that I've discovered that s-curl agrees so well with me, I've been air drying my hair after conditioner washes for weeks now at a time and love taking out the 2 pigtails each morning and walking around with it wavy and MOISTURIZED. And if I want, I can go back to bone straight with a good rollarset done by me or a Dominican salon!

Versatility!!!! And the advice learn't from this board is incredible. So much of what I do now is based from advice got here that I would not have known about otherwise. Thank goodness I found this place!

That's a really nice and encouraging thing to say. /images/graemlins/smile.gif Sometimes, it's hard to remember that when your hair isn't doing what you want it to do. /images/graemlins/look.gif

That's very true, and all the times when people are /images/graemlins/shocked.gif and amazed at what we can do with our hair like weaves, braids etc I take it for granted. Only cause they get on my damn nerves and want to touch it. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Leshia,

You are correct. We are very fortunate for this wonderful board. I would like to suggest to all of you ladies that you make a small donation to support the site. I personally will be sending in a small donation (sister is trying to save for a house and take care of my little one)as my appreciation for the board!

Well, it hardly ever does what I want it to do, but it is growing (as am I). *HUGE smile* It's just nice to have some options (like slapping it in braids when it's misbehaving) and still look good, if not even better!

this board has been helpful in not accepting everything at face value. not believing every black hair care company had my best interest at heart. not every stylist knew much about hair and water can be your best friend. i also learned that people who work at a store may not even know what the stuff in the store does and its up to you to educate yourself which this site has helped me do. i dont get upset about setbacks as much, they still do get me peeved but i view it as a learning experience and knowledge is power and the more you know the better you are for it. also it helps you make wiser decisions. i feel empowered for what i know from you ladies. /images/graemlins/smile.gif God bless you all.

azul I agree with everything you said. We are so much more educated now on what works and doesn't for our hair and what to look out for re. ingredients.

The more I read on this board, the more empowered I feel about my general hair knowledge. Its nice to walk into a store, read the back of bottles and have more of an idea of what the ingredients are. I never knew before. Also just little styling things too.

It is very empowering. Years ago I thought the black hair care products were the only thing I could use on my hair. Boy was I wrong...

I always felt we had the best hair of 'both' worlds....

I agree 100% w/ all of you ladies. We are definitely blessed to have the versatility w/ our hair. I'm loving this board /images/graemlins/grin.gif and the knowledge distributed to all of us /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

Might I just add that s-curl spray is a Godsend for me! I'm even spray it on my braids. The most important thing about being able to communicate with all of you is the fact that we all encourage whomever enters this board. Building self-esteem is something to be happy about. We do more than just refer others to products and such...it's really a blessing (when done objectively, of course...*smirking*)

Hey, I'm late, but just wanted to add that I went to my hairdresser today for a relaxer touch-up and she commented on how quickly my hair had grown since my last relaxer and how healthy it looked! /images/graemlins/clap.gif I owe all of my progress to this board. Although I've only been on this board for about a month, I've learned a lifetime's worth of information and am still learning everyday. I made sure to watch carefully everything she used on my hair and I just feel so empowered now. Thanks to all of you guys and this forum!!! /images/graemlins/clap.gif /images/graemlins/clap.gif /images/graemlins/clap.gif
