when you shampoo...

Twice. The first time is only to the scalp then rinse. I do it a second time and let the suds gently run down my strands. I only use a moisturizing shampoo to do this and don't aim to get it squeaky clean like those commercials; I'm mainly trying to cleanse my scalp. Between the shampoo suds and DC that I do afterwards, my hair is clean.

I used to shampoo twice but since using an applicator bottle to apply the shampoo directly to my scalp, I've been getting much better suds action. I then just work it down the strands

just once. The shampoo i used really creates alot of suds that easily run down my twists.

I think I'm going to do it once. Because even though i detangle before washing it dries my roots out even with a moisturizing poo and when i apply conditioner relaxer style i struggle to seperate at the roots In certain parts. I use roots only applicator bottle so it does get mostly roots

Maybe do a R/O conditioner with VO5 before DCing

Once, with diluted shampoo in an applicator bottle. I focus mostly on my roots and the runoff gets the rest.

Maybe i don't detangle the top fully before washing because if it was the shampoo all my roots would be tangled right?

That could be it or your crown may just be the more corse than the rest. Thats the way mine is. The NG in the crown is super coily. The back and sides have a looser, bigger coil

Twice. I'd prob do 3x once in a while if I didn't wash in sections. When my hair was relaxed straight I'd give my hair and scalp 3 washes.

Twice, but keep in mind that I only cleanse my hair/scalp every 10-14 days. I don't go through the wash day routine every week or multiple times a week, like a lot of the ladies.
