Hi ladies I wanted to know is ever a time hair is beyond repair? Meaning the solution is to cut it all off. Unless I have bald spots I firgured I could deep condition it back to health or am I wrong?

I believe there can be a solution to most problems unless its a genetic condition that cause hair problems. Is there some specific hair problem you are interesting in knowing about??

I think at some point it does have to be cut off. If the treatments aren't working and it's still breaking then it needs to be cut off so you can start fresh.

Ok. I know everyone's hair is diffrent but about how long should it take??? Being that you deep condition 1X a week and you have found a product that works for you?

When I was relaxed, I realized that after nursing my hair for about 5 months, it would not respond to any kind of deep conditioning. The more I nursed it the more it broke off. And I finally realized that my hair was truly damaged and it was time to say goodbye to my damaged relaxed hair.:( So it took me almost 6 months to face the truth about my hair.

Yes this has happened to me.
My hair started falling out and I must of didn't notice(i don't know how I missed it) or it happened within days because I was brushing my hair one day and realized a handful of my crown was 5 inches long and the rest of my hair was APL..WTH!! I don't wear extensions and this couldn't be hidden, so I had to chop off all my hair and start all over again.

Other times it wasn't so bad.
Twice it was overprocessed and started breaking off at the demarcation line. I did aphogee treatment and trimmed a couple of inches, stopped getting touchups for awhile and babied it back to good health.

Same here. It just had to go. There was nothing else that could be done.

when i first joined here my hair was JACKED like you wouldnt believe. I had gotten a relaxer that had burned my scalp and i would later find out had left me with two sections where the chunk of hair was 1-2 inches long (mind you my hair was about 2 inches below SL. My hair was so mushy when it was wet and when i would wash it, i would lose sooooo much hair. Some of the ladies counseled me to not cut it if i didnt want to and just to start taking care of it to repair the damage (DC, CW, protein etc, no heat) i did that for a few months and then i was braided up for a few months. Finally about 7 months after the initial went and got another professional relaxer and had them cut off all of the remaining damage. My new hair was short, i could barely make a ponytail butit was super healthy. I felt like i would have had to completely cut off all my hair to get rid of the initial damage and if i did that, i might as well go natural. i didnt want to do that so i opted to just grow the damage out.
