do you put oil on your hands when taking out your twists (or braids)??? does that help it to look more defined??? is there anything else you do to make it look better??

What products are you using to create your twist-outs?
Are you twisting your hair when it's wet?
[/ QUOTE ]um...well it varies...when im doing twists specifically for a twist out i do it wet...but recently ive been twisting dry, so as to have a bit of length for a day or two before i co wash...

If you are trying to create a long lasting twist out that looks defined, you may want to try twisting on soaking wet hair with a heavier product (for example: Carols daughter healthy hair butter or shea butter) Then untwist and gently separate after your hair is completely dry. Before I untwist I do use a tiny bit of moisturizer on my ends. This ensures that my ends don't break during the untwisting process. It also keeps my ends looking smooth (...that is when I want a smooth look) You also may want to try using a tiny roller on the end of each wet twist.
Dry twist-outs are nice also but they do create a totally different look. Wet twist outs tend to give me a curly type look while dry twists give me a crinkled look.

I did a braid out a while ago when I first thought about transitioning (I skipped my 8 week touch up). I used a shea butter product (forgot the name) and water to set it and when I took it down I used almond oil which is very light to seperate it for more curl definition. I had a deep wave look and it was really shiny.
I don't use any oils when untwisting, but like AFashionSlave, I spray a little bit of my Pantene leave-in on the very ends to help keep my ends from breaking when untwisting.
