When do you need a Protein and how often?

I use motions cpr. Ideally, I use it every two or three weeks. (When I feel my hair is shedding more than usual.)

I've been using cpr for the past several months and would highly recommend it.

From my limited understanding of hair............:lachen:

I thought that if you use heat alot (curling, blowdrying, flatironing) that you would need a protein conditioner.

I use Aphogee every 6 weeks. Without it my hair tangles uncontrollably. It also stops breakage. My hair also feels stronger.

Protein is fond in the hair naturely, it gives the hair strength. Chemicals and heat weaken, remove protein from the hair. The use of protein treatments are not needed if
you do not use these things. Over use can cause damage if not use properly and make the hair feel dry. use protein after chemical use and prolong us of high heat, and the hair is weak.

I've been transisitioning for almost 9 months now and I use protein. Once every few weeks seems to do the trick. I limit the heat I use--I may sit under a bonnet dryer ( I hate going out with wet hair) or use a blow dryer with a diffuser. (I rarely use it b/c it makes my hair frizzy)

My bonnet dryer just died a few days ago---so I'll be w/o heat until I replace it.

I find protein treatments help when my hair is shedding more than usual.

So "naturals" who do not use heat styling do not need protein treatments?
I don't use protein. My hair hates protein. Like Hairmaster said, it makes my hair very dry. But when I was a relaxed head I used Motionns CPR & it worked well.
ETA: I do not use any heat on my hair or dyes(chemicals).

I rotate my protein and moisturizing conditioners. This method works great for me. For example wk. 1,3 =protein. Wk. 2,4=moisture. I must add though that my moisturizing conditioners usually have some sort of protein in them as well.
