When do you add amla to henna?

When I added amla to my Henna I think I did it before the color release, so I got brown instead of red (which wasn't a big deal to me). Were you looking to have the reddish tint or does color matter?

Yeah, I was hoping to keep my red color

If you want to keep the red color, do a separate amla treatment. It will brown your hair though.
