Wheat Germ Oil: Why are we taking it again?

Ugh, with all the egglettes putting wheat germ oil in their smoothies, I thought I might give it a try. Besides being a good source of Vitamin E, what the heck else is it good for in terms of hair care? This stuff tastes NAAAASTAAAYY! :barf:

Wheat Germ Oil contains Vitamin E and Essential Fatty Acids. It also contains Ceramides.

I have recently incorporated 'Ceramides' into my Regimen, so I have been using Wheat Germ Oil on my Hair.

It's got ceramides in it which is supposed to be excellent for our hair.

I don't take it personally but it can't taste any worse than Flaxseed oil. :nono:

I pulled my 16oz Bottle out and I have been applying it lightly to my hair. I had been using it to Do Hot Oil Treatments, but haven't done a HOT in a while. So, now I lightly massage in.

It absorbs quickly and it doesn't 'smell' too bad. The Essential Fatty Acids (EFA's) makes it one of the best.

I like it!:yep:

The Egglettes also use it because it's a germinating food, which encourages hair follicles to thrive and produce healthy hair...and all of the above.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I bought the products to try the shake out but I wasn't sure what it was for. Thanks for posting this.

I have just recently started taking one tablespoon of wheat germ oil every morning. at first I was planning on mixing it in a smoothie but the taste was just too much:nono:
But I bought a huge bottle of it for $20 and didn't want to just waste it. I started just taking it (1 tablespoon) like you would take a shot- straight up and then followed with a chaser (orange juice, in my case). I have really gotten used to the taste over time. At first I would even gag at it, but I don't anymore and it's not so bad.
I've been doing this for about 3 weeks now... I've noticed that my skin has gotten very smooth and the texture has evened out, even on my face my skin is smoother. As far as my hair goes, I have definitely noticed an increase in growth since I started to take the wheat germ oil. My roommie just said today how my hair looks longer and the NG looks moister :yep: However, since I found this site I have also been using MT for the last week and have just been taking better care of my hair in general (a month)... I know the WGO has a gang of Vitamin E in it, and that is benefical for skin, nails etc. So I'm going to keep on using it, I can update in the future if anyone wants :look:

Me too! I have been mixing 1 teaspoon of wheat germ oil into my DC's. It makes the mix really light and fluffy, and enriches it with vitamin E. My hair always comes out soft, shinier, and strong. I'm so glad I'm finding ways to fit it into my hair routine and my diet. And yes, as an egglette, I mix it several times a week into my hair cocktail. Love it! I use the Spectrum brand from whole foods. It doesn't taste that bad mixed in the shake. I also take essential fatty acids (1 tablespoon) 3 x's a week.

vtoodler From The Science of Black Hair "Ceramides are fatty acids with lipid components that help the hair and skin retain moisture"
Various oils contain them wheat germ being one of the. I use wheat germ. Biolage products often contain ceramides.
