What Hair vitamins and oils are you ladies taking? What was your starting length? What is your length now?

Me, my hair is between 3”-5”. I am currently taking Hair Formula 37 Vitamins?

What’s your secret? I need your help!

My hair used to be waist lenght, and i asked my mom what she do to it she said lots of braids, massages, hair treatments(like eggs and mayo) once a month, don't put alot of stuff and trims.

I am taking Nature's Plus Ultra Hair Plus with MSM, a woman's one a day, a 50 mg of silica and a 500 mg pill of l-cysteine. The first two vitamins I began taking about a month ago, the last two, I just started last week. My starting length in January 2002 was 1/2 inch. I think I am between 10 and 12 inches now. I've only been doing things to actively grow my hair within the last month, but since and before my hair cut, I've always drank a substantial amount of water and refrained from using direct heat on my hair (occasionally, I have my roots blow out at a Dominican salon, but not often). When I was fully relaxed, wearing protective styles, ALWAYS sleeping with a scarf, deep conditioning, vitamin E and every summer giving it a rest with braids was my secret.

NOW that I'm transitioning, carrot juice, flaxseed oil, Surge and tons of conditioners while I detangle is what is working for me.

I've been lazy with vitamins so I simplified my vitamin regimen a LOT.

I take 2,000 mgs powder MSM everyday with Orange Juice
I sometimes take a tablespoon of GNC Flax Seed Oil
I sometimes take 1 or 2 GNC Hair Skin and Nails

Drinking lots of water, daily exercise, using no heat on my hair, eating a healthy diet, besides the usual vitamins, supplementing daily with carrot juice & flaxseed oil, washing & conditioning every 3 days, keeping my hair and ends moisturized, sleeping with a silk or satin scarf and a positive, loving attitude towards my hair is what has helped me the most.

no secrets...if anything I am finally getting my recommended amount of sleep per night

All the vitamins excercise, and hair products in the world would never replace a good amount of sleep for hair growht IMO

Your hair is beautiful. I almost feel like cutting my hair off and starting over.

Thanks, Rabia...but please don't even think about cutting your hair. I read your post about the trouble with the weave. The same thing happened to me, but with micros, and that's why I chopped, but I wished I had held onto it, and tried my best to save it first

If I were to pin it on one thing, I would say trims added greatly to my length. Of course, I drink water and try to eat right, but w/o trimming my hair would be a shoulder length mess!

My secret to growing thick healthy long natural hair: My hair grows in evenly all around now, and only puts out a "v" shoot when it is going into a major growth spurt. 1. No trimming: No cutting: Just light dusting once hair reaches specific points. I have NO SPLIT INS! My ends are NOT DRY OR TANGLY...(chin length, shoulder length bra strap below.) Since I wear it up 99% of the time why would I need to? Since it is covered 90% of the time with scarves, why would I need to? 2.Regular moisturizing with Biolage leave in tonic 3. Homemade wildgrowth, Homemade black Castor-carrot-okra oil and Spritzing with homemade herbal honey leave in spray that I use when wrapping and between wraps. Seriously going for below bra strap all around, including bangs area. I believe that not layering is critical and avoiding damaging chemicals and over oiling makes all the difference. I surge 3 days a week. No brushing all the way through or combing except after a shampoo or rinse. I make as many as possible of my own hair treatments---sprays, oils, hair masques, conditioners and I add MSM, Biotin, Pantothenic acid and honey to my shampoos. Black Strap Molasses to my conditioners and an AVC rinse. Henna, lotus, or other herbal powder treatment as needed. Deep condition every 2 weeks. Hope this helps.

Mahalialee,

Have u ever had split ends, dry hair, or a layered cut? If so, how did u recover from them and how long did it take?

When my hair was below my bra strap, I only relaxed every 6 months, no supplements but I was a strict vegetarian and drank lots of water and exercised every other day, used S curl religiously and wore my hair up 100% of the time (but that caused some hairline damage). I also never used heat.

Now I'm about 3.5 inches away from bra strap, relax every 8 weeks, no heat, wear my hair up 100% time unless I'm rocking a weave, CO wash every day (even in the winter) and use hot 6 oil, Scurl on my ends and hairline only, take biotin supplements.

There really is no secert to growing hair. You can't grow your hair it dose that on it's own natrually. It's keeping the length you need to worry about and keeping it healthy.

I actually grew out MULTI MULTI MULTI LAYERS and that was a major pain. Probably why it took so long. Dryness...EVO and deep conditioning and frequent rinsing helped that. I cut only the split ends off about 6 months ago and about 6 months before that...just a dusting. Now I do not have any because I keep the ends oiled or conditioned. Hope this helps.

Finding a GREAT deep CONDITIONER. <--- So key so key!

Stretching my relaxers.

Limiting the amount of products I put in my hair.

Only relaxing every twelve weeks

Limiting heat

Moisture (I never realized how much I neglected this part of my regimen until I joined this forum)

Limiting the amount of products and things I do to my hair
