What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

This was actually funny to me. I hope you see the humor in it too. I was in line at the market and there were two women ahead of me. I noticed that they both had taken hair from the front of their head and had it slicked down on their forehead and slanted across with gel holding it in place. It was hard and stiff looking with the gel flaking. It was suppose to be baby hair

It was hysterical to see, I had to keep looking in another direction to keep from LOL.

I know we want to hold on to our youth and have cute little locks framing our face, but that was just down-right riduculous. You can't fake baby hair, either you still have a little or you don't. Is this just L.A. or do women in other states do the real or fake baby hair slick down thing and if so......WHYYYYYYYYY

Lol, I used to love me some baby hair...people used to call me Ginuwine...lol, cuz it was ridiculous, but I thought it was cute. But, NO...it is 2004 they should no better!!!!!!!

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

Lol mines does that on its own especially after i take a shower, but other than that half of your hair line should not be glued to your face with that brown pre-con gel. And sum people wonder why its bumps there all the time

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

LOL. Girl they do it in GA too! But I think that its even worse. Instead of using the *PRE-CON* gel, they use the real black, nasty, gunky lookin' gel that leaves brown residue. I know girls who are so into that that they sit under the dryer with this thing and actually consider it a hairstyle. And most of all, these girls' hair is not healthy or even meant for that! I'm sorry, but your baby hair does not extend over 4 inches! And pulling nappy strands of hair from the middle of the head does not count! I have to admit, I was a victim of this baby hair syndrom, but after 9th grade I saw the light and moved on to bigger and better hair care.

I haven't heard of anyone talking about "baby" hair in a very long time, it brings back funny memories from the 90's,

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

I think it's suppose to be "Baby Hair" maybe that the style now. Whatever it is, it looked utterly ridiculous!

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

You guys..... no offense to anyone, but baby hair is something that is not suppose to be that noticeable. I mean what is the point...its called "baby hair" not "adult hair!" To tell you the truth, most girls who I see with those massive forehead lookin' sideburns don't have healthy hair. I mean anyone with hair sense would know that excessive gel on the hairline is not healthy or appealing. Whatever.....forget "baby hair" .....I'm trying to get "long hair." Whew. speaking of sideburns, I am glad Ashanti dealt with those things. When she first came out I didn't know whether she was gone shave then things or braid them. Now her hair looks really good and healthy. Ms. Ashanti need to give some hair tips to Ms. Beyonce.

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

Yeah, they do it in Lex-town KY too! I ain't gonna lie cause I did it this mornin!! But atleast mine was REAL baby hairs!!

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

Actually the only person who i know of that can actually pull this off is chili from TLC. And its not because of her hair type, it just suits her.

I live in Atlanta and I see it all the time! I ain't never had no "baby hair." When I was in high school back in the 90's my friends use to sport it all the time. I guess my hair was too brillo-type to pull that look off! LOL!!!

I use to do the babyhair thing back in the 9th grade (over 15 years ago)... i don't even do the babyhair thing with my child b/c i think it's sooooo played out! I wish ginuwine would STOP IT!!! that is one of the reasons y i do not find him attractive at all

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

I'm 19 and still have baby hair that's no longer than 2 inches. But I leave it alone. I don't pack it down with gel and stuff.

Chilli does the geling of the baby hair thing and I don't like it. It's just not cute to me.

So, so true. I must admit that I rocked the baby hair back in high school for a quick minute. Who the hell started this crap? Why is it still around? WHYYYY? I remember a couple weeks ago, I was walking through the mall, and there was this Mexican chick with an elaborate/ghettolicious hairstyle, with the freakin' baby hair gelled down. It looked cute (cuz she actually had some hair), but it was so played out!

Edited to add: This was in Colorado, so yes, this epidemic is nationwide!

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

I agree with blue flower - I think it's nationwide. I'm actually kinda reminiscing about this right now. I remember I used to do that ridiculous hair style back in the day (8th grade, etc.), and then, I could never understand why my mother would argue with me about all that nasty brown gel on my forehead and temples
swearing.gif
. Knowing what I know now, I would not DARE to slap gel on the front edges of my hair. It is just cheezy

Re: What\'s up with \"Baby Hair\"?

I'm a little embarassed to admit that I don't really know what baby hair is. I'm trying to imagine it from the descriptions here though. I did a search for photos on Chili and Ginuwine but I don't think I found good pictures that show it.
