Here I grow again!
Seems like everybody's henna'ing (). Is the point of this to color the hair? condition the hair? strengthen the hair? WHAT?! :perplexed

And if I want my hair dark, is the indigo going to make my hair shiny black or bluish?

All of the above...I use it mainly for the color  but I welcome all the other wonderful benefits

Main reasons

- Deep condition / strengthen the hair
- Color the hair (with indigo for black, with acids for reddish tone)

I believe indigo will make it shiny black, not bluish.

I just wrote a post on henna and I absolutely loved the way it made my natural locks feel soft and manageable! It's said to promote growth and strengthen the hair. I think you'll love it too.

I use NUPUR henna once per month....every 2nd Friday night of each and every month. I love it for the conditioning/strengthening benefits, but also for the awesome auburn color it gives my greys...:yep:

The NUPUR brand of henna also contains additional ayurvedic herbs and powders that are simply great for hair and scalp. Henna is definitely a keeper for me. I keep my mix simple: henna, tea(or coffee), amla oil, aubrey organics conditioner. That's it!!:yep:

My last trtment was w/henna (staight) ...i liked it.But my hair loves the mixed powders.
When i first started using them my hair was layered and it started growing out more evenly fast. There something called henna+ i used once and can't seem to find it anymore.
But mixing them myself was good and the ancient formula (mix) shikaki, henna, and amla is good too.

So i use it (when i can) for: conditioning, strength, growth, & (color) not as much.

stronger hair
loosening of curl pattern.

ETA: I don't henna (only done it twice, don't think it's worth the trouble unless doing it for color), but this has been the reasons I've seen the most.

The "Point" of Henna for me personally is to get a Good Henna Stain. Apply Indigo. Cover Grey. *it's that simple*

Nuff Said.

for me it helps to thicken.

if you are going to use it, i must forewarn you....make sure you have an uber moisture rich deep condish avail for follow up. otherwise, your hair is going to feel like straw after you wash it out and it dries.
