I've been searching all over the forum and I cant seem to find a straight answer:ohwell: what do you use?

I think because that answer varies for different heads of hair. Overall I think the best product for a twist out is a cream that is wet, which allows for definition to take place -- no matter what specific brand the product happens to be.

I just discovered ORS pudding and it's pretty good.

Well I find that there isn't much different in my hair whatever products I use.
I notice that hen I use my shea butter the twist-outs last a little longer and are a little more defined. But it doesnt really matter to me since I only wear them for a couple of days :)
So usually, I just go with my stable moisturizer which is giovanni smooth as silk deeper moisture.

It depends on what you want the end result to look like. If I want a fluffy twist out I just use leave in conditioner and oil. If I want more definition, I use some type of gel or cream.

I've had success with Curl Prep Sweet Buttah, Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme & Curly Meringue, Keracare Twist and define cream as well as WEN 613 mixed with Eco Argan gel.

This was a more defined look with a cream holding product and flat twists.

This was more fluffy since I used no holding product and two strand twists.

There are some many variables to consider when i wear twistouts. If its humid, I use a cream gel (entwine coutoure's creme jelly styler, original moxie shape shifter) or a creamy moisturizer with a gel. During the winter I use heavier butter products (KBB's Butter Love, Purabody Natural's Caupacu Butter). For a fluffier look, I'll use SM curling smoothie or Qhemet's burdock Root cream.

There is definitely no perfect product but if I want a no fail twist out, meaning I will have the hold and definition that I want, I will use Miss Jessie's curly meringue or curly pudding, or kinky curly custard, or uncle Funky's daughter curly magic.

My hair is 4a/b texlaxed about bra strap length but shrinks up to shoulder length with a twist out.

So here is what I've used:

Taalia Wajid Curly Curl Cream - I liked it but it can be gummy and produce dryness, so I had to use the Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie product under it.

Giovanni conditioner - Um, no, that did nothing for my hair but remember, I'm 4a and not natural (I texlax, stretch, texlax).

Ecostyler gel - I like it for definition but I really REALLY need to apply a moisturizer first, then ecostyler and then twist.

I have a gel/moisturizer and it does okay, but it has a lot of glycerin in it and boy, my hair can PUFF up with some glycerin and humidity.

I have used the curly custard and it's drying for me without anything under it. So all in all, right now I use ORS Curl N Hold pudding, but before I apply that I put on B&B Caster Oil moisturizer or Curl Smoothie and then the ORS.

I flat twist for more even, defined curls. I coccoon the ends (Napptural85's technique on Youtube).

I twist on wet hair, so I hate the first day results (way, way too tight), love day 3 and 4, but I bun on day 5.

I do not use gel on the dryest parts of my hair (bangs and nape)...I simply apply my moisturizer to that area and flat twist. Seems to be working as the dryest parts of my hair are retaining length and looking good. :)

I hope this helps. Always use a moisturizer under whatever twist cream you use. Trial and error was my only sure fire way of finding the right products.

I like Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter. I would think you would get more defined twistouts on wet/damp hair than opposed to dry hair and longer lasting twistouts if the twists are done smaller as opposed to bigger. Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream seems to be a great start for a lot of people though...me included. xD

I have two textures. 4a in the front and 4b at the top and back. For my two strand twists I used Scurl, African Pride leave-in, a cream moisturizer (as I am naturally double butter cream or ORHS olive oil) and eco-styler.

Recently I've changed it up to use the scurl, leave-in, as I am double butter cream and as I am twist defining cream. The twist defining cream left my undone twists come out super soft. I rarely separate my twist because they make my hair too big. I prefer to let them gradually get bigger the rest of the week on their own.

My new thing is Napturall85's cocoon curls. I've been wearing it for the past two days and I can't get enough of my hair!!! - super soft curls, just enough volume to make it noticeable but not over the top.

I am texlaxed but transitioning, almost 10.5 months post. My all-time favorite twist out products are from Camille Rose. The JAI Twist Butter and the Aloe Whipped Gel. I slightly prefer the Aloe Whipped Gel. It has the hold of a gel but the moisture of a butter. Excellent definition, softness and frizz control. I tend to use it more in the summer months and the JAI in the colder months.

My natural hair is mostly 4B and I use Echo Styler gel, the green one. I love the scent, shine and definition that I get.

I've been experimenting with different stuff but I find that Shea Moisture deep conditioning mask is great for hold and definition. I'm experimenting with creamed beewax and I'll report back with any info.

I second the cantu leave in

The Almond Jai Twisting Butter is my favorite, and I've tried a lot of different products because I twist every week. My next favorite is KBB Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream, but a little goes a very long way so don't overdo it.

I want to try the Camille Rose Naturals Aloe Whipped Butter Gel.
