Will synthetic hair break your hair off if you use it for cornrows? I know kanekalon is supposed to be good. DO you recommend it over synthetic for cornrows. the braider wants me to get straight silky hair, however, the kanekalon that I found has a slight wave or frizz to it. I do know where to get it straight (and expensive as all get out). What do you guys think?

Human hair is always the best hair to braid with. Sally's is having a half-off sale this week, and I got two packs of 12" human hair for $9.99/pk. If you prefer synthetic hair, you can always pretreat it. Here's a link for pretreating the hair so it doesn't strip your own hair of moisture:

I'm partial to human hair so I'd recommend it too. But my reason for preferring it is simply because I can do more with it style-wise and I find I can keep it looking good longer. I do imagine though that it competes for hair products with my own hair (my unproven supposition)...which is why I am pretty generous in my application of shampoos, conditioners, etc.

I only buy human hair, but I don't wear cornrows. I like the versatility. Kanekalon is ok for cornrows. I used it once when I had my hair braided years ago. I remember it being kinda dry though and not as easy to work with as human hair.
