I just recently self-braided my hair using Kanekelon. (...youtube is no joke - you can learn to do anything!!!).

I even did the knot-less cornrows and they came out OK.

I forgot about yaki pony! I used that for my very first Senegalese twists install 10 years ago! I think I like it better than kankalon as well.

It depends on the type of braids you get. I mostly get senegalese twists done and my braider use the hair from Black and Gold. It's a little on the silky side and it gives a smooth transition when you soak it in hot water to seal the end of the braids.

I used Finger Comber hair for my Havana Twists but they can be done with Marley hair.

I used Janet Collection afro kinky bulk hair for Senegalese twists, but they can also be done with Marley hair.

That's what I was coming in here to say. The hair is smooth and easy on your fingers. It's not all rough like the 2 for $5 stuff sold at the liquor store.
