Lately...I've been hearing a lot about this "baggie method".
There was someone on Fotki who wears it all day long I guess to protect her ends 24-7.

Is this all it's doing is...protecting your ends?
I think that's great--but I just can't wear it 24-7.
I was thinking...is this bag approach good for wearing overnight while sleeping?

Is it's purpose to retain moisture in the hair or something?

All in all...what's the purpose of it?
And do a lot of people use it???
PLEASE HELP!!!

side note:
I am all natural -- trimmed rest of permed ends October 2006.
My hair is about 4.5 inches in length.

You can just moisturize (mist, conditioner)then seal (oils, grease, avocado or shea butters) your length, and put a sandwich baggie over it then a phonytail=fake ponytail or you can wear a plastic cap liek the ones for deep conditioning treatments at night just moisturize all your hair.
Chicoro has a method in her fokti album.

I read a lot about this method on blackhairmedia.com....you can search that site. It's on here too, but I think it's discussed there more often and more in depth. From what I've read, there are many variations/methods used. Some only do this at night and it is used to protect the ends, but mainly to keep them moisturized. What moisturizer is used varies from person to person. You have to find what method works for you. You don't need to wear it 24-7................. go to blackhairmedia....IMO you will find what you are looking for.

Lucia, your step by step instructions where wonderful!!!
I think I'd only be able to do this at night.
Since my BC--I don't really have a LOT of hair yet (IMO) to support a bun.

Thanks for your help with this!
:)

Thank you to both of you, Kookie and Lucia. I am learning so much on this site. I am a new member ( January 19 or 20, 2009) and I look forward to learning a great deal more. Thanks for your question and thanks for your very detailed and easy to understand explanation of the "Baggie Method". I visited the site as well and really enjoyed the reading. Thanks a million!:woot:
