For some reason one small spot near my temple area has been extremely flakely and I have applied oil etc and it still produces this big old nasty looking flakes! I notice the skin is also darker then my natural scalp color. Is it some kind of dermatitis? I cannot understand what it is and why it is just located in that one area. I’m just praying the hair don’t fall out in the area or this issue spreads. I swear since I got that heat damaged a couple of months ago I have been have all sorts of issues! Has anyone had this issue with flakey scalp?

The dermatalogist office is booked out until December:( they refuse to give me a referral. Monistat gave me migraines. is'nt there any natural remedies or shampoo that would work?

@Kinkyhairlady try coconut oil. Also when you wash your hair, perhaps use Giovanni Tea Tree shampoo and apply it undiluted to scalp. Massage and leave it on for a minute. Then rinse well. When you apply conditioner to hair, avoid the inch or so close to your scalp. Then massage unrefined/virgin coconut oil into the spot.

Also try cutting back on sugar, wheat and dairy...just in case it's fungal.

Ok, I have some coconut oil I will try that. I will have to buy the tea tree shampoo. The area does not itch but you can literally see the flakes raising up and it gross. I will try your recommendation and see how it goes. Thanks
