I just spent some bank getting twists done on my natural hair and they look terrible!! Really bad. I ended up leaving the salon with a scarf on. They're just very thin and anorexic looking. How can I go about making them look better, fuller. Should I just take them out? Should I wet them? I didn't really want to take them out but if I have to I will. I knew I should of gotten cornrows. This has been the worst hair week ever!!

I'd post pics but I don't have my camera on me.

If you wet them they will shrink and look fuller.

I wouldnt suggest dreching them, try a light mist with a pray bottle until you feel they are the way you like them.

Also try stying the twists

Did she do them on dry hair? Dry hair yields fatter twist for me. Personally, if she was really into her customers happiness she would redo them. My old beautician would redo them if I didn't like them.

To your question though, I wouldn't take them out unless they were dirt cheap. Idk if wetting them would help any...

Thank I'll try misting them
I did try styling them. I'll have to mess with them more when I get home. The twists themselves don't look bad. Like it's obvious my hair is healthy, but together it's just one big fail.

She did them on wet hair. It's weird because I told them I'd rather she blow dry them first but then she started telling me about this special method that they do at the salon and blah blah blah. I knew I should have insisted that they blow dry them.

They were $60. Which is expensive for me as I'm a student. I'm going to try wetting them when I get home. If they still look terrible, I'm taking them out, and looking for someone to do cornrows tom, hopefully for dirt cheap.

I can't explain how sad this is making me. My hair had been looking awful all week and now it still look bad. GJLJDFLL!!!

yes spritz them or add a leave in moisturizer thats water/glycerine based.
then take a rlly warm steamy bath.(dont cover your hair in the shower)

ETA .... oh u said they were done on wet hair?
did she make them rlly small?
hmmmm

set on roller, bantu knot them or pin them up. im sure you can find a cute style to wear for a while with the twists so you can make the most out of your money!

Yeah, they were done on wet hair. They're not super small but they're smaller than a pencil.

if the water spritz doesnt work, try perm rodding them.
Good suggestion! Though I don't think I'm going to go out and buy perm rods.

I think I'll bantu knot them.

Spritz, baggy, or pin them up in the shower without a cap usually does the trick for me. The steam plumps them up. After they get older the twists usually start looking more plumper so perhaps give it more time as well?

Honestly, twists aren't for everyone. My hair looks horrible in twits. They're thin and not full at all.
It's trial and error... Good luck though

I have really thin twists but I like the result after letting them shrink up slightly in the shower so they coil and plump up a little since I do mine on dry hair.
I loved the result I got when I did a Curlformers set on mine. I put about 4 - 6 twists in each curler.

Do you have any ouchless elastic bands around? If so, you could band the twists. After you've kept the twists banded for a while, you will see that your twists will have a crinkly look. Plus, banding helps to stretch the hair.

This is what I'm realizing. At least not small ones.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I tried plumping them and bantu-knotting them with no success. I have taken them out, deep conditioned my hair and flat ironed. I'll be getting cornrows in a month or so. No more twists for me on wet hair ever!!!!!!! The one good thing I can say is that my hair is healthy. I just had to dust my ends a little.
