So it's been a couple of weeks so I've calmed down enough to ask for help...a couple of weeks ago I went to get my hair done after weeks of frustration and not knowing what to do with it.

I went to a salon to get a texturizer and all I have to say is what the hell..I had called to schedule the appointment and while making the appointment I told the person I wanted to get a curly texturizer, unfortunately my stylist was not listening, he proceeded to style my hair as if I wanted it straightened. When I realized that he was getting ready to pick up the flat iron I reminded him that I wanted my hair curly, guess what he did? He put me back in the chair to get my hair "soaked" and then finger-styled it..I walked out looking like the child of buckwheat and chubaca (just hideous)

Now hear's my dilemma, I've seen some really nice texturizers and I'd love to get my hair like that, any suggestions on where to go to get it done?

I live in NYC but will travel for a good stylist...

Thanks guys for letting me vent.

I don't have an answer I just wanted to say I hope someone answers you soon :-) Maybe you can try the vendor review forum while you're waiting for a good reply ?

Are you aware... that a texturizer.. will loosen.. the original texture you have in your head.. So if you dont have a curly texture. Once you get a texturizer.. you might be severly dissapointed.

I feel that you should do more research and fully understand what your getting into before you... let a stylist touch your hair.

Best of luck on your research.

Btw, what is your hairtype if you dont mind me asking.

yeah, I personally don't advocate texturizers but in the mean time, maybe you can do an twist out to help with curl defintion. If your natural hair don't have "it" the texturizer may not be able to bring it. It's a game of chance. There are plenty of texlaxed women here that could give you some advice.
Good luck!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the responses. I did a lot of research before I settled on getting a texturizer. My hair ended up more straight than curly. I was a natural for 4 years and my natural 4a/4b hair has a curly/zig zag pattern and I was hoping the texturizer would just loosen it up a bit..that's what I get for trying something "new"

Oh no, texturizers aren't made for this kind of hair if you have more than 0.5 inches. The zig-zag pattern just turns into a straight line, or a slightly bent line. S-shaped strands fare much better. I've been there a few times myself. The only time I got a "curly"-looking texture out of it was the time it was double-processed.

i dont kno much about texturizers but a good salon is D&G Hair spa by Georgina in Queens.
but With your zig zag hair pattern a texturizer would just straighten it out
