Ok yall, I am not going to fake the funk here. I washed my hair last night and was not a happy camper. It came out nice, b/c I flat ironed, but the washing, conditioning, and detangling process........:nono:. I used my Kenra and I am not happy at all. I went to apply it to my hair to DC. Usually when I do this there is slip and moisture instantly. With the last bottle I used up, it even lathered while I applied it:grin:. But this time, when I applied it, nothing. It felt like I was applying water to my hair. Nonetheless, I shook it off and figured Kenra would do the business while DCing with heat. FAIL! I dont know what happened! My hair seemed like it rejected it. Honest, it felt like I DC'd with water. Someone please let a sista know what is going on. This is why I strayed from Kenra before, but I went back thinking I was just being a PJ. Was my last bottle a "good" bottle and this recent one a "bad" one? Do I need to rotate my DC's? What happened????:wallbash:

How long have you been using that particular product? Maybe your hair just got "used" to it? Do you normally rotate your products instead of using one exclusive product? If not, maybe that was your issue. A lot of folks suggest that you should rotate your products, and I can definitely attest to that. Also could have been the amount of water left on the hair, sometimes if I don't get a lot of the excess water out of my hair before applying conditioner, it will almost feel like you said ("like applying water to hair").

Was not the water. I let my hair dry a little first and squeezed out excess water. I have been using it for about six weeks straight and the only time I only use other DC's is when I use protein which is once a month, but even then I follow up with Kenra. I don't know about hair getting used to a product...that usually means you need to clarify, which I do on the regular due to the cones in my heat protectant. Honestly, I want my staple DCs to act like a staple 24/7 365 LOL but maybe I do need to rotate. Thanks. Your hair is so pretty btw.

Hey girl,
I've acutally had this happen to me with Kenra. I don't know, it's like sometimes it just doesn't do what it normally does. But when it works it really works, but when it doesn't work, it really doesn't work. That's why I didn't repurchase, I need something consistant.

When is the last time u clarified or chelated? I find that when something that I usually use stops working, it's because I need to chelate. I don't really buy into that whole thing about your hair becoming "used" to a product.

ETA: NVM, I see u answered my question...was it a new bottle of product? It couldn't hurt to rotate your products. Then again, I always rotate :look:.

Yea I just chelated before using it. It was a brand new bottle. The last bottle I used everything was all good, and then with this one:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Happened to me too. the first time I used kenra it wasnt all that, the second time I used it I got the lather and slip like you said and it was really moisturizing. The third time I clarified before using it again, good results. However last week it didnt seem to work as well. I dont know whats up.

yea it happened to me when i tried kenra. that's why kenra is still sitting on my shelf 6 months later. it didn't DC anything!

Kenra never really did anything for my hair. :nono:

However I have had the same experience as you with other conditioners. They will work well for a few weeks and then all of a sudden the magic wears off even after clarifying, chelating, etc. That is part of the reason why I keep switching up products.

thats funny, i never got a "lather" with the kenra mc. but then again i only liked it as a pre poo mixed with oils and honey so idk. i hope you figure it out cause i love your hair shtow.

Kenra MC stopped working for me too. I found other things that worked better for me on a consistent basis that were also less expensive and I never looked back. The Color Maintenance conditioner didn't a dog gone thing for me at all.

Thanks for the heads up cause the color maintenance line was on my list.

Dang, please dont tell me this!! I was all excited about my results so far with Kenra...went and bought the styling spray and gloss and everything. Well, so far so good.

But, if rotating is what works, then I guess I'll be back and forth with Joico. Maybe 2 weeks on, and 2 weeks off with products?

kenra only works for me on soaking wet hair.

Yep..ITA...if I use it any other way my hair is a tangles mess. Other conditioners work better if I remove some of the water from my hair prior to applying it. This is def not the case with Kenra.

I'm on the prowl for a cheaper alternate so I just bought a bottle of Aussie Moist conditioner. I heard this works just as good as Kenra and it was only $3.
