I plan on getting my touch-up with the legendary Marcia

this weekend and I wanted to know what should I do beforehand as regards caring for my hair/scalp? It's been about 30 weeks since my last touch-up

and I lose the normal amount of hair per day (30-50)- which includes shedding and breakage

. I was wondering, should I do a protein treatment and if so, should it be done 2 days before I relax? Should I use an clarifying shampoo and acidifying conditioner? Should I oil my scalp? Should I do a pre-shampoo treatment? ... hey I can go on and on..

Thanks in advance ladies.

Marcia's pretty good CH - so you won't need to do as much as you might with other places. But if you want to be extra good to your hair...

Do a mild protein conditioner on Wednesday or so and wash and set so she can clearly see you new growth. Lightly oil you scalp with a light oil each night thereafter. By the weekend you'll want your up probably (a little oily by this point) but your scalp will be well protected. No need to over do it. A little will do.

Be careful not to manipulate the scalp too too much over the course of the week and let Marcia do the rest.

From what I observed she really does knw what she's doing.

She'll base you and she's never burned BRH to my knowledge.

Her hair looks lovely after too!

Thanks for replying tracy.... this is what i did last night (2nite is babygirl's hair day and i've learned from experience not to even attempt to take care of both of our heads the same nite

)

Well, i did a hot oil treatment using suave strawberry conditioner (i ran out of coconut), EVOO, jojoba, sweet almond oil (i think) and honey. (i put same in a cup -all except the conditioner- and placed it in the microwave and heated it for 45 sec.). I put this mixture on my dry hair and placed a plastic cap on my head. i than warmed up a towel and left that on my head for 30 minutes, re-warmed and replaced for another 30 minutes. i than washed my hair using my CoN and Keracare Detangling (ooo lala, the lather is extreme

), then I applied the Nexxus Keraphix in collusion with Aphoghee 2 minute reconstructor, put on a plastic cap and continued to shower. About 20 minutes later (hey, I was exfoliating

), I rinsed out the conditioners. My hair felt really nice. I was surprised that nexxus could hook me up like that because in the past their products usually got a thumbs down. I then applied Mizani Moisturfuse, placed a cap on my head for about 20 minutes than went under the dryer for another 20 minutes. (The delay was the transfer from my home to my boyfriend's house, because my house can't take the power of my dryer). The end result was my hair was soooo friggin' soft, the slip was stupendous AND i didn't lose any hairs. I then used Aroscio leave-in conditioner, put mango butter with a little carrot oil on my ends and than braided my hair and slept. when i woke up, my hair was and still is sooo dang soft. imagine if i had a rollerset.

I have a question, should I put WGO on my scalp every night or should I use a specific oil or oil combination (i have jojoba, castor, aloe, avocado, coconut, carrot and almond sweet. I also have shea butter. TIA

CaramelHonee, I think you can apply the oils you mentioned in moderation over the next few days, concentrating on the new growth areas and hair ends. The key thing is not to irritate the scalp.

CaramelHonnee,

Please let me know how the touch-up turns out. I am currently on week #28 and will be getting a touch-up in a few weeks. I am considering going to Marcia but am still a little nervous.

I want to move to New York so I can visit Marcia! You all have all the good stylists up there! It's not fair!

30 weeks!

. And everyone has been saying such nice things about her that I had to give it a try. I would suggest that you call her now for an appt. because I had to wait about 4 weeks to finally see her. And all the while, wearing my hair in a bun... BORING!!!!

wait you had to wait 4 weeks for the consultation or for the appointment to get your hair done? i want to check her out because i have been underprocessed twice by the same people but i got my hair done like may 16 or around that week so i think it is a bit too soon to get a touchup so i wanted to wait at least until mid july but i dont want to bump that because her schedule is too busy.

God bless you all.

Maybe I misspoke (LOL)... it just has been so long since I had my hair relaxed my mind has been playing tricks on me. I initially called her on May 21st... She scheduled my consultation for May 23rd (didn't want to schedule the relaxer until the consult) but I couldn't make that so I called and she rescheduled it for June 12 (at this time, I asked her to schedule an appt. for the relaxer b/c i couldn't wait any longer.) Hence, the relaxer is now on for Sat. June 14th. (So it's been about 3 weeks)

I not ready for a relaxer for another couple of weeks but I think I may call now to schedule a consultation. Or maybe I'll go and get a wash and set from her. By the way, do you have the phone number...

Thanks. Still interested in knowing how you touch-up turns out. I did read somewhere that she does not do roller set, only uses the blow dryer. I don’t know about that….I do not like putting that blowdryer in my hair. Also, I am worried about overlapping. So pay close attention to that for me please. I have about 3 inches of of new growth. (How much new growth do you have?) I have always had a problem with overlapping in the past. Lately, it has never broken my hair but it has led to weak hair later down the line. My hair has finally gotten to the length that I once knew and I am afraid of losing it!
