I happen to like Suave products, especially their clarifying shampoo it leaves my hair sparkling clean and NOT dry & brittle. I also like Suave's Tropical Coconut conditioner, it smells so good!
After years of using 'ethnic products' I now dont use any besides an s-curl texturiser a couple of times a year !!! (very ethnic)
I just dont find that they work for me at all and I have tried basically everything over the years. I hope this doesn't offend anyone cos that is not my intention.
There are so many, L'anza shampoos & serums, Kerastase conditioners, Garnier Fructis 3 min conditioner, Loreal Unfrizz Smoothing Treatment, Kiehls Silk Groom, Kenra conditioner (although I'm about to try it out properly on Friday), Aubrey Organics GPB.
The Pantene line works wonders for me. I am currently using pantene's moisturizing shampoo (extremely creamy), pantene smooth and sleek condtioner (its also excellent as a deep conditioner when you use heat for a half an hour and leaves your hair smelling great), and the intensive restoration treatment (3 minutes in the shower is all you need!). After discovering these products, I wouldnt wash my hair with anything else!!!!
I see someone mentioned Aubrey's GPB. I thought I was the only one who knew about that one. I've been using that since I was a kid!
Nothing works like GPB, especially when it comes to detangling. It's the only conditioner that doesn't dry out my hair with overuse(probably because it contains no alcohol or mineral oils of any kind).
Other ones that are good in moderation are Clairol Herbal Essence Intensive conditioners and of course good ol' Pantene. But like I mentioned, if I use them everyday, they do end up drying more than conditioning.
Kerastase is a great brand but unfortunately not in my budget for regular use.
Has any one tried L'Azartigue? Its expensive as well but has some impressive products(like their Shea butter pre-shampoo).
Everything that I have tried that was a non-ethnic product has worked for me: Kenra, L'anza, Paul Mitchell, L'oreal, Clairol.... it was some of those evil ethnic products that had me looking like Buckwheat.
i dont use "ethnic" products anymore, actually i never tried them till a couple months ago but ive swithed back to my regs like infusium, grund, thermasilk, pantene, nexxus, paul mitchell, frizz ease the reg kind, matrix, biolage, vs sassoon, clairol, you name it i have it.
lorel vive curl locking spray
the zone's noodle head
pantene hydrating curls shampoo and conditioner
pantene smooth and sleek condtioner
I love pantene products. They smell great and make my hair feel wonderful.
Actually, I thought Aubrey Organics' GPB was created with chemically-damaged AA hair in mind (if I recall Jade's article at hairboutique.com correctly). But I agree, AO is a line that agrees with my hair so far and I don't believe they were created with AA hair in mind.
L'Anza (I love the Protein Plus shampoo, old formula! It's my first venture into the L'Anza line and I'm off to a good start).
Clairol
L'Oreal (Feria Color Moisture Treatment)
Helene Curtis
Ion
Infusium
Pureology
Even back in my childhood press and curl days I always preferred non ethnic products. The products made especially for black hair were always oily and they didn't smell very good.
My mom used to like this creamy shampoo that had lanolin in it.
I was so glad when we moved and she couldn't find it anymore!
The companies are getting better. They still don't want to let go of the grease, though.
