put your hair in a bun? I have been using Pink Oil for a while, but it seem to be sooo heavy now for some reason. Also, after I get it "slicked" into the ponytail I then put gel (the black kind /images/graemlins/crazy.gif) around my edges. But, I want to try something different. Once it dry from the products, it looks kinda nasty looking to me. Lately I have also been putting the Motions wrap/set foam /images/graemlins/perplexed.gif on my hair to help it to lay better. Is this bad to use in this manner? Any recommendations??? TIA I know that's a lotta junk in my hair just for a bun...right? /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

Pink Oil is the MOST HATED product by almost everyone here. Do a search for Pink Oil Moisturizer and you will see.

Okayyyyyy! I did the search and now, I am ashamed! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif I didn't know sooooo many people hated this stuff! So, what should I use instead? /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hi happyyogi /images/graemlins/wave.gif

When I was relaxed & transitioning, I used Luster's "No Drip" Curl Activator & Moisturizer, which kept my buns moisturized for 4-5 days. It's a heavy product, so a little goes a long way. Now that I'm natural, I'll used some type of cheapy moisturizing conditioner (VO5, Suave, etc).

I use Liv hairdressing mixed with Fantasia's IC gel. It doesn't have any alcohol in it and the two together give you great shine and holds the hair. Hope you find a good solution for your hair.

silk elements liquid styling gel when i have a lotta new growth.

when i dont have a lotta new growth, i just use a moisturizer (Elasta QP Oil Recovery) or oil my ends with WildGrowthOil.

When my hair is straight, nothing. I just make sure my hair is moisturized and not dry. When I have all of this new growth, I rely on SCurl or Organics Leave In Hair Mayonnaise to put my hair in a bun. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. But, do you all only put your buns in while your hair is wet? It seems that some of the products that are listed should be applied to wet hair. I'm looking for something to put on my hair when it's dry. Thanks again.

I don't use gel on my hair because I have yet to find one that I like. When I do a bun on dry hair I use my mixture of distilled water, olive oil and aloe vera on my ends to make them damp, not wet. Then I smoothe a nickel sized amount of Cantu Shea Butter daily oil moisturizer throughout my hair, make the bun and tie with a scarf. When I remove the scarf my hair is smoothe and shiny.

When I have alot of new growth I do this while my hair is damp so the edges will "lay" down. Then I leave the scarf on longer.
