I was wondering what oil is best for pressing and or flat ironing. I had used coconut oil to flat iron once. It came out really straight...but really greasy. However...the oil absorbed in about 3 days and then my hair was super shiny (not greasy)and straight. I was thinking shea butter should make a nice pressing creme. I'm going to try a concoction of whipped shea, jojoba, and coconut oil. I plan to apply it to damp hair after a heat protectant, then blow dry, then iron or press. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Anyone else have a recipe or favorite oil regie for pressin', curlin' and ironin'?

TIA:grin:

Hey Misstacie....welcome, I see you are new. I don't have a favorite, I go with whatever is in my cabinet along with some heat protector. I'd like to know too though!

I usually DC with evco and evoo before I flat iron. I put the heat protectant on my ends and voila, pretty press.
Hth!
