You can go to a derm and she will do a biopsy (remove a tiny part of your scalp) on the section where the hairloss is. From that she will be able to tell you if the follicle is dead (no hair will come back) or merely "resting" wheteher naturally resting or shocked into resting from trauma. I had it done last year on my edges. Luckily for me it was resting.
