What Keeps Curls in that "Elongated/Damp" state?

I have texlaxed and my hair has completely reverted... to about 99% lol.

I'll wash and style my hair with Fantasia IC and conditioner, and I'll have nice ringlets with some frizz... and as they dry, they shrink and shrink and shrink and eventually they are "crisp dry" and tiny. You'll still see the curls but they definitely aren't shingled or elongated like the products and techniqies promise.

I have a jar of Vitale in my hand, but I'm not trying to slap on anymore chemicals if the shrinkage is the same. I actually love my hair in is 75% airdried condition... I'd like to keep it that way. It just seems that shingling... while natural and texlaxed, or coating the hair with moisture doesn't work.

Should I try KCCC and mixed chicks? My hair is BEAUTIFUL like this, even if the chemicals barely changed it, and I want to nuture it. Also when it's completely dried, it FEELS dry... another concern.

Girl if anyone knew the answer to shrinkage they would be a millionaire, I promise you. KCCC didn't work for me, even though I have been reading so many good reviews on here lately. The KCCC made my hair shrink and it was really hard when it dried but it could have been because I used too much product. Personally I have had the least shrinkage when I use curling creams as opposed to gels.

id like to try kccc on my hair, its in my "if i ever get around to it" list.
as far shrinkage, if i finger comb, reg comb, brush, or shake my hair when its wet it will shrink more. but if i rinse my hair ever so slightly before i come out and allow it to drip dry. i'll have far less shrinkage.

:lachen:I know... the shrinkage cure is very elusive.
I want to try that stuff but I'll be mad if nothing works.

It's on my list too now. I'm just not in a rush. Ever so slightly? I'll have to try to find out what that means for me. I have a tendency to let it get sopping wet.

Gel always makes my hair feel crispy and dry. I've been experimenting, and the one thing that really keeps it soft is castor oil. And since it's so heavy it helps elongate as well.

When I was texlaxed I would wash n go with a thick leave-in - like the Sunsilk Anti-Poof and then follow that with a heavy serum. My hair would shrink a little as it dried, but for the most part is stayed elongated. Once it was dry, if it was stiff I could scrunch it in my hands to break it up w/o causing frizz.

Maybe you could dry it in large twists, or try banding to help keep it stretched while it dries? Some people seem to be having good luck with a diffuser too.

Is banding when they put all these "ties" on the hair to stretch it out? Do you leave it like that until it's airdiried or do you sit under a dryer?

Yep, that's it. I would definitely sit under a dryer; even with an hour under the dryer and overnight, my hair was still damp the next morning. I love KCCC for definition, but it does not help me with elongation at all. The only thing I found that worked a little was Hairveda Whipped Gelly. And when I say a little, I mean my normal 75% shrinkage was more like 67%, but I noticed the difference. Not sure if anyone else did! :look:

cant help with the shrinkage part, and yes kccc did good for definition to combat frizz if i promise not to ever touch it till its dry but it still shrinks up really bad. if your hair is crispy with the gel then you probably need more leave-in conditioner. the only time fantasia ic got a little crispy on me is when i skimped on the conditioner. unfortunately/fortunately i've found my curls get tighter the more moisturized it is.

What other leave-ins and which serums were heavy enough to do this? I haven't found anything that will elongate my curls when dry.
