Any length(halle berry cuts to layered waist lengths are all fine to mention).....

Who did it? How did you find the stylist? How did you know it was a good cut, and did you know before the stylist was done that it would be a goodie?

I'm getting a hair cut and I need optimistic stories...

??!! We're talking a TRIM, right??!!

Nope. A cut. Not to shoulder length or anything. Just to give my hair some shape and style as I continue to grow it out.

But I'm up for anything right now. Anything can happen!

I hope it is a trim!

The best haircut I ever had was about 10 years ago. One of my co-workers recommended this stylist to me. I went in and had my hair relaxed and cut into a short bob with the back of my head shaved. I am sure you all remember that style.

It took her about an hour to complete the cut but when she was finished my hair was banging! I still talk abou that cut to this day.

This cut was so perfect that if I ran my fingers through my hair the hair would fall magically into place. There were no strays. I hate getting a cut just to find a long piece the stylist missed somewhere. She cut it so wonderfully that the ends of my hair felt like silk when touched. No matter which way I combed it, it still looked perfect. It had so much shine body and bounce and I think I only had about 4 inched of hair from scalp to ends!

And the greatest thing of all...I have everyone asking me if it was a weave!

my friend/neighbor came over to visit me when i was living with my "cuban" and her hair was in this cute pixie cut and i luved it!!!

my hair was shoulder length at the time and the style i had was getting to be too high maintenance. i would curl my hair then i would seperate each curl i'd made and use a smaller curling iron to make tons of "drop curls" all over my head. Anyway, i asked her about where she went and she took me there the following tuesday. The lady that did her hair also did mine. She had me in a sharp halle style cut and did a wrap using Paul Mitchell conditioner (my first time going all out on my hair products
laugh.gif
) She also introduced me to Paul Mitchell shampoo with tea tree oil (great stuff for my short do)

Let me tell ya something about me, this woman had my confidence from the moment she grabbed my hair and started cutting. I HATE when people just snip here and there when they are supposed to be cutting your hair. Save the "snipping" for trims. I LOVE when the stylist grabs and proceeds to cut with confidence
smile.gif
to me it shows that they know they have skillls and know that your hair is gonna be the bomb when you get out of their chair. I lost my boyfriend after this cut because he was HOT that i cut my hair but i LOVED it and anyway i found a man after him that loved short hair

Okaaaay... Just don't do anything drastic, girl... remember the last time you did something on a whim, "Elvira"!!
grin.gif

I have to add that it must be nice to have so much hair that you're not petrified to go sit in a stylist's chair and get a hairCUT!! I still get anxious about my little trims!!

Ain't nobody said I wasn't scurred!

Sigh....

That's sound heavenly, DSD....thats exactly what I'm looking for. Did your co-workers cut look that way too? Is that why you got the rec from her?

Hehe..glad I'm not the only one. I was considering layers today (with my current length!)...can't wait to "see" your decision, Tracy.

Have you seen a pic of what you want?
See - my problem is just what I said in my post. Everytime I have gotten my haircut, I never got what I went in there wanting so I gave up and decided to just have straight even hair. But now I'm thinking - geez, I'm going to lose a lot of my length over the next few years..I may as well benefit from the length loss by having a cool haircut to go along with it, ya know?

I'm gonna search around for some pictures. I am scheduled for a trim in 2 weeks. If I have a picture, maybe I can see what she thinks, then evaluate her confidence and make an appointment later after I think about it more!!

Yep! Her hair usually looked like a hot mess because she did it at home and used to wear those curls that you get when you roll your sponge rollers too tight. One day she came into work and her hair looked amazing. I got her stylist info right away because if she could work a miracle on that mess just imagine what she can do for someone who has nice hair!

The best cut I had was 8 years ago. I got my hair cut into a chin length bob. It was so cute. I loved that cut, it was just the right length so that it was short, but long enough to put up if I had to.

The second time my hair was that short was when I was growing it out natural, probably January of 03' I liked the way it was shaped, and it had a lot of bounce! If I ever cut my hair, that will be the shortest I'll cut it, unless I'm past 50. After that, I'll probably wear a close cut style.

When I had my halle berry cut aka chopped all the bleach ends off leaving me with a good 3 inches of hair
smile.gif

She has been my mothers stylist for the past 30 years, and was the only one who helped me when Bleach destroyed my hair. Old school fo sure
laugh.gif

Even a year later, stylists would compliment on how well she cut my hair. Can you believe that
laugh.gif

i've never had a good haircut. ive only had one haircut in my entire life and that was when that damn SSH chopped my hair from bra strap to neck length.

Karonica why the cut? and how'd you find the stylist?

[/ QUOTE ]

A few weeks after the bleaching, my hair went left.
laugh.gif
Then after my last touch-up in May, I knew I'd done did it. The last few inches of my hair had been really rough-looking, and that's the part of my hair that had some dye in it from previous dye jobs, so I wanted to get rid of it with a cut.

Here's the ironic part. I'd been wanting to go to this studio because I knew they were inexpensive and the location was somewhat convenient. I had an appointment with a lady (we talked on the phone and urrythang
laugh.gif
) but she said she'd put me down for Friday even though she was planning on going on a trip, but she put me down just in case she didn't decide to go on the trip.

Well, I called her Thursday afternoon to confirm whether or not she was going to do my hair, and she told me that she planned on going on the trip. BUT, she would have another lady do my hair and that the lady was really, really good. Well, when I got there, I showed the lady a pic of the cut I wanted that I found in her hair books. She did snip it shorter than the model's hair, but the layering and the flips in the back were the same. She asked me if I minded it being short, and I told her "no" which is why I couldn't get mad at her for snipping it shorter.
laugh.gif
Plus, I told her to cut it so that it matches MY face.
smile.gif

It's not only the cut that I'm liking, but the fact that she was so attentive to my bad scalp (something most hairdressers would spend a minute on). Plus, I told her I can't perm anymore since my hair doesn't take well to relaxers anymore since being on meds, and she told me she had a lot of clients whose hair were ruined when they went on medication, so she can work with my natural roots while growing it out. I breathed a sigh of relief. You know most hairdressers wouldn't give the time of day to a person who doesn't wanna perm their hair when they need one.

Karonica,

I'm sorry to hear about your damage from the bleach, but I'm very glad that you're happy with your new haircut!
smile.gif
It sounds like you got a real cute cut!!
up.gif
You know I wanna ask you to post pics, right??
grin.gif

What kinds of reactions did you get to your cut?? Your hair was almost at brastrap, right?? That's a pretty drastic change...

The bestest hair cut I had was a blunt shoulder length bob (then I then got it cut shorter to a 6 inch bob) My hair was sooooo freaking perfect, and my ends were so thick!!!!!!! I loved it. It was very blunt, swingy and choppy, and it resembled the thickness of an Asian's hair when it is freshly cut. Of course I had more shine to it though
grin.gif
. Man I loved that haircut

Eventually my blunt bob grew in to natural layers, but my ends still stayed blunt and choppy. Good luck with whatever you decide tracy

I made the mistake of putting crochet braids in my hair('99) and the damage and tangling was horrible. I was so mad
1336.gif
that I went to my stylist and told her to cut it! She started cutting and I knew she was trying to save my length and I told her to keep cutting. Anyway, I had the SHARPEST Chinese bob! I had bangs cut very blunt and right above my eyebrows and the rest of my hair was just skimming my jawline. You should have seen all the women in the shop gawking at how much hair was cut off and laying all over the floor. It gave me an exotic look and it was so easy to style.

In 1997 I got a great layered cut at the Regis in our local mall. I lucked out because I just walked in and asked for a wash and cut not knowing squat about the place or the stylists.(I'd never do that now) This girl gave me the best layered shoulder length do, everybody loved it. My hair had lots of body, fullness and movement. One co-worker asked to take a pic of my hair she could show her stylist. That was my best haircut ever.

Hair cutting is definitely an art and not every stylist is good at it.
