It has to be reconstructor. Most salons will apply this for 5 minutes after relaxer and then follow it with neutrilzing shampoo. With the Affrim relaxer this 5en1 reconstructor is part of their steps and used as stated above. A leave-in moisturizing conditioner should be use also. :)

I know about the reconstructor followed by the nuetralizing shampoo, But I read somewhere on this forum that you have to follow with acidifying conditioner and finally a another conditioner to close/seal your cuticles. PLease help as I am hoping to relax my hair by this weekend. TIA

I don't know of a specific conditioner that will close the cuticle...after I rinse my relaxer out, I normalize, the shampoo three times with the neutralizing shampoo, leaving it on 5 mins each time. After that, I do a protein reconstructor, and a heavy moisturizing conditioner. That's about it. I've heard that cool water rinses close the cuticle...

I use French Perm after relaxer conditioner. It has a Ph of 2.5 lower than any conditioner that I have seen and it helps to close the cuticles and makes the hair really smooth. HTH

They sell it in a white bottle with green writting at Sally's

I thought that the reconstructor is used the next time you wash your hair after the relaxer. Like a couple of days later. I didn't know that it was during the relaxing process.

Well, I use Nexxus Keraphix Protein Creme Reconstructor weekly as my protein treatment, but especially after a touch up, because it can make your hair weak and porous. I don't shampoo a couple days later...I only shampoo once a week, and that's when I do my protein reconstructor.

Yep, any conditioner with acidifying agents will close that cuticle :yep: I use neutralizing conditioner and vinegar solution rinses.

I have never used this process you have described. If want to know exactly I would say to call a salon and tell them you want to get relaxer at their shop and wanted to know if you would need acidifying conditioner etc. Just act like your are going to go into salon to get their services and see what they say. I would problaly call three major salons just see what is being done about closing cuticles. Let us know what you find. I will ask my hair dresser also. :)

Yes, for AFFIRM system is actually apart of the steps. I usually use a heavy protien a week before and then I use the AFFRIM for five minutes after relaxer is rinse out followed by neutrilizing shampoo and leave-in. Some people on this board do, do it afterwards but I have color and relaxer in my hair so I need alot of protein espiecally during relaxer time.
