I was looking on the Elasta QP site and it is listed under treatments. All this time I thought it was like a hair oil used for styling. IS it more like a deep conditioner or hot oil treatment?

Actually if you read the jar its not a meant to be a moisturizer(explains why I hate using as one at times, cause it doesnt moisturize) its actually a heat protectant , it says it on the jar!

hmm. i'll have to read the jar. I use it as a nightly moisturizer before i wrap my hair at nite. I guess i assumed it was a moisturizer. i'm glad u pointed this out. i think that it works well for my hair because it doesn't weigh it down but if i use it steadly for 4 or more days, i find that my hair turns a bit dry/strawlike...so be careful with how much u use and how long.

great product anyways...great smell....

whether the jar says it or not...it moisturized my hair pretty well and doesnt revert it! good stuff. but im thinking of trying virgin mango butter...

yup girl it says it on the jar(says its a thermal protecting treatment)....I just started slathering this stuff in my hair like a creamy moisturizer.....ha, no wonder my hair pays hell for using it like that. It also says use it AFTER using breakage control serum

so much for learning a product and following its directions huh? lol

Are you serious heat protectant?

I just cant call it , as far as what it actually does to my hair, I know it slicks it back hella good, but it also makes it hard to comb and makes my hair hard. Its a weird product , but my review involves using almost the whole jar on my head...sure not everyone else is doing that either.

when I'm totally frustrated and complaining about my hair after using it my daughter says , "why dont you just use it on the top" and evertime im like she's right...yet i do the madness again..and slather my hair with it yet again

it flakes and its drying and makes my hair hard yet i still keep using it. lol

so far the only way i can even use this product as even somewhat of a moisturizing product is to make sure i have plenty of oils/butters in my hair at the same time and/or Recovery. but my hair is still paying hell for using it.

Pure Mango Butter is totally different....its a crumbly type of butter, its a wonderfull butter , just hard to apply cause its crumbly. Its a butter that needs to be mixed with oil(s) to get any kind of smooth consistency

either melted or mixed( i prefer mixed)

But its totally completely different from the Elasta QP

one of the main ingredients in the Elasta QP Mango butter is squalane, Mango butter is way lower on the list....I'm thinking its the squalene that makes it do weird stuff....shiny yet dry, under control yet hard etc.

yeah girl I know , I know all too well

I been saying its a weird product for a while....your hair can look good with it and feel like crap all at once

okay i'm still too lazy to get up off my @$$ and read the instructions but i just went to the elastica qp site and the product name is 'Mango Butter Moisturizer' so i hope it provides some kind of moisturizing quality. The online ad reads 'This intensely rich thermal protecting treatment is formulated with oils of olive and coconut creating a shine-enhancing, yet non-greasy formula that targets dry ends and prevents damage". So irresistable you are right!!! I guess we'll have to read the ingredient list to find out if the moisturizing products are at the top of the list or not.....

.

why not whip it? that makes it a lot smoother! thats what i did to my shea butter anyway. it got quite creamy vs. crumbly and hard...

girl the top of the list is water and squalane(says its derived from olive oil but what is it? LOL) and quite a few other things before it gets to the other stuff..mango and cocoa butter are quite a ways down on the list

hmmm,i think i'm going to try the Recovery Oil. on the website it says that its a creme that moisturizes without leaving hair oily. sounds good, huh.

Gurl you cant go wrong with Recovery.....it really DOES moisturize every time

yeah girl thats what I do, I use a blender and whip it , it does make it smoother and its much better than melting them.

I think you will love the pure Mango Butter since you already know about whipping it

using it as is can be rather difficult , one would have to have the patience to smoosh it around to be able to spread it lol....its great for lips as is though. I just smoosh it into a little lip jar

Is Recovery a liquid or more like a lotion? Does it have that Mango Butter smell?

Mango Butter can be used as both a moisturizer and heat protectant, the actual name of the product is 'Mango Butter Moisturizer'. As far as the squalane, to put it simply its a derivative or olive oil, its one of the ingredients that makes up olive oil, its extracted at the molecular level. Kind of like they extract the fatty acids from coconut oil.

Well said my Aries sistah...lol.

I went into the bathroom and looked at the label...and was like...I know darn well it says...Mango Butter Moisturizer....thought my arse was crazy...

o/t - @ babygurl...I'm feeling the Recovery...so I'm straight now...with my three prods, the mango butter, my woojee cream and the recovery.

Oh I forgot to mention, Mango Butter does contain silk protein, which may explain why it can make your hair hard or hard to comb.

Is it normally hard to absorb into the hair??

For me, no, Mango Butter absorbs fine whether my hair is wet or dry, but again, different things work for different people.

Not at all. I use QP Mango Butter on dry hair and it absorbs rather quickly...I haven't experienced the problems many of you have. Maybe it's b/c I use a water based gel with it? :perplexed

I no longer use this product for moisture..only becasue I would run out of it within two weeks. Now I just use it for wash n gos and slicking back my hair.

Hey that squaline stuff is in my honey gloss lip gloss...I knew that ingredient looked familiar

When I think of a treatment, I think of aphogee, cholestrol, etc. Smthg u put on ur hair for at least 5 minutes and probably use w/heat. Then, u rinse.
When I think of a heat protector, I think of thermasilk.
Is this a styling product or a leave in conditioner type thing?

I'm confused.
