What is causing my hair strands to tangle together

My hair use to do this all the time. Primarly when I was natural. It 's normally due to the products you use when you wash your hair. Perhaps the product does not agree with you hair.

Is there too much protein in the product? What products are you using? Are you natural or relaxed?

Split, damage or worn ends can also contribute to the problem. If you have these you will want to trim the damage worns ends and you should see a difference.

If it is mostly the ends, it's probably build-up/protein overload. A lot of people end up cutting because they don't know what's causing it. Is it crunchy feeling? You should clarify using a sulfate based shampoo to be safe (it might take more than one application), condition/oil and see how it goes.

Don't go too long using just conditioner, they can build up even if they don't have silicones, there are other waxy ingredients that can cause this.

If that doesn't help a little trim might be the solution.

For me if my hair tangles on the ends its because its either worn or split. In this case dusting my ends usually takes care of the issue. If it's near the roots then i know i haven't done a good job of getting the shed hairs out. When this happens I do a three step detangle. 1st detangle with my wide tooth rake. 2nd detangle with my med tooth comb, and then 3rd detangle with a small / fine tooth comb. After that the issue usually resolves itself until I either get lazy about detangling again or am in need of a trim. The only other time I experienced serious tangling issues I had protein overload and it went away after a couple of intensive moisturizing treatments.

This happens to me when I use too much protein (I'm protein sensitive), if I wash my hair too often, or if I have not clarified with an ACV rinse in a while.
