A Dominican Blowout is when they wash, wet roller-set your hair, sit you under the hair dryer for about 45 min-1 hour and they take the rollers out, blow dry it with a comb attachment bone-straight and it basically looks like a wrap or doobie. /images/graemlins/smile.gif This is great for those with texturizers or 2b-3b type hair...
I don't get it. If you sit under the dryer for an hour, why blow dry it with a regular hand dryer? Why would you want to put more heat on your hair? So it just looks like a roller set/doobie?!?!
The thing about the blow-out is that it gets your hair extra straight with the additional heat. Your hair is very bouncy and super duper straight. Of course the bad thing is, Shell, just as you implied the extra heat is very damaging to your hair! And believe me when I say they have that blow-dryer smokin', it is literally doing just that!!

oh...it's not that bad (depending on how much heat your hair can stand, of course). i just had one over the weekend and i must say my hair looks fabulous today! it is a lot of heat, but if the stylists is good, you won't even feel it.

I've never seena Dom. salon use a comb attachment to do the final straightening process. JMO - I'm sure it would come out much differently (and cause more damage) if they did.
