I know I've been around for a minute now but can someone PLEASE tell me what this is?

(I've already done a search)

from my experience (could be right or wrong), it's a rollerset that's immediately followed by a wrap...

It's a wrap. Sometimes, when you go to the Dominican salon they will wrap your hair and pin it down with bobby pins after blowing it out. I actually know some people who wear that as a style for a few days, then take it down and wear the hair loose for a few days.

So it's when you wrap your hair after rollersetting? I remember leaving the gym and my hair was wrapped and tied up (the top was exposed) and this PR chick said "I thought we were the only ones who wore doobies." I thought she meant the scarf.:(

Thanks ladies (I think). :D

ETA: What does wrapping after a rollerset do?

it loosens the curl but keeps the body that you got from the rollerset... smooth and sleek without being super flat...

It gives you a bouncy straight look without all the heat of a flat iron. Down south, we call them roller wraps:lol:

straighten out the tight curls from the rollers resulting in staright hair with a slight bumped curl at the end

i roller set my hair for body and to make my hair smooth and straight, most of the time i don't even use a flat iron, just roller set, wrap and then wear hair down

So doobie has two definitions I see! I know when my ex used to say he was gonna smoke a doobie after work, it didn't have anything to do with hair!:lachen: One of the many reason's he's an ex:mad:

That's what I thought it was but didn't post when I saw this cuz I wasn't sure. My mom used to get them and they come out so pretty.

my mom has been doing this for at least the past 7 or 8 years and never has the need for additional heat til she gets her hair done again ... i never knew what a healthy practice it was til i came to the board, and i'm starting to do the same thing (when i want to wear my hair straight)... if i had followed suit when she started doing it, i think i would have had much less hair frustrations over the years...

I thought a Doobie was when you wrap your hair and place 2-3 large rollers at the top to add bounce and volume so when you unwrap it, it would not be totally straight.

I worked in a salon as a assistant- this was my understanding of what a Doobie is.

A doobie is just a wrap with bobby pins. I know in NY you can just ask for a wrap and they will do the same thing but further down south, they will not put the bobby pins unless you specifically ask for a doobie

I am sporting a doobie right now!!!! Went to the shop today and got a roller set with super dooper big rollers.
