What I used up today -- PJ challenge

Hello all PJs -- I have committed to my own personal "use it up" challenge. To keep myself motivated, I thought that I would start a thread on what I used up today. My challenge is to buy staple replacements only and use up all of the "stuff" that has been heretofore gathering dust under my bathroom cabinets.

Today I used up the last of my Silicon Mix Deep Conditioner. I used it as a prepoo for tonight's wash/rollerset. Yay me.

If you guys are so inclined, please feel free to share what you have used up and if you would purchase again.

I know for many Silicon Mix is the truth, but for me it was just okay. I don't know that I will be in a rush to buy this again. It worked well on my dd natural hair, but for my relaxed hair it was just average.

I'm in!!! I am currently trying to use up my jar of Surge Olive/ Soya Bean oil .... stuff. It is great to use at night for softer hair in the morning but I don't like it as a day moisturizer because it smells like peppermint and it does not absorb easily in my hair so it tends to way it down.

I used up a bottle of Sunsilk HydraTLC creme today.. This is a staple, so I will be replenishing.

Tonight I used up my Frederic Fekkai Protein Rx Reparative Treatment Mask -- I love the smell of this product and it does seem to help strengthen my hair. I recall that it was relatively expensive and I believe that there are other products that give the same or similar results with a cheaper price tag. But I do love the smell. I may buy this again some day. Still working to find my HG products. I think this process of using up all the stuff under my cabinets is a very good one for me because it helps me to curb my spending and its almost like discovering new products, cause I've got so much under the cabinets that I hardly know what's what.

Great challenge because Sunday I used up something and it felt SO GOOD.

I used up a tube of Dumb Blonde Reconstructor. I would repurchase it, but because of the other "Use it Up" challenge I cannot right now.

I have several other protein conditioners to go through. Since I only use protein every other week, it gon' be a while.

Next I am going to start on that half used Aphogee Keratin Conditioner.

I sold a BUNCH of stuff on ebay. It did not even put a dent on my collection.

I'm like . But then I get sad and I find myself wanting to buy the product again. I really do have a problem.

I will admit, I did have a relapse the other day. I bought 2 bottles of Dove conditioner........but they were 50 cents!! I couldn't pass that up. It was just too much for my heart to take, lol.

There was someone on the boards that said if they got through half of a product that was just "ok", then they'd go ahead and chuck it...Can't remember who that was for the life of me, but that is a good idea...They are waaaayyy better than I am

I know just how you feel. I call myself on a personal use-it-up kick but it is slow going. I pretty much have my staples but I am always wanting to try new things. I have recently used up the following:

Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat - will not replace
Aveda DR conditioner liter - already have a backup for this staple!
WRTC con - have several replacements (staple)
Profectiv Mega Growth conditioner - liked it but will not replace
S2S Healthy Scalp treatment - will not replace
Miss Keys 10 en 1 - love it but will not replace any time soon
Nacidit Olive conditioner - will not replace for now
Infusium Moisturology - will not replace

I also gave away about 15+ products that I had but wasn't using, including Aveda USC, Aveda leave in, Garnier Sleek & Shine creamy leave in, and a set of Redken All Soft poo/con. Can't even tell anything is missing I'm working on it though

I am slowly but surely getting rid of all these extra products. I would like to only purchase my mainstays for a while. Nothing new. We'll see...

It brings me great sadness to inform you all that I had to bury two jars today that served me well in their deep conditioning capacity up until the very end...That would be Silicon Mix and Nacidit Aguacate Rest in Peace, yall.


I will definitely be replenishing both of these. 60 oz. Silicon is on my list before the end of this week.

Wow...you guys are serious. Well, I used up my motions moisture plus and my proclaim aloe and shea butter conditioner and I will not be replacing any of these any time soon. I have conditioners I haven't even used yet that are still sitting in my closet that I claim are gonna be my "staples". HA! I laugh at myself...We'll see how it goes.

Recently I have just been sticking with just a couple lines, and my hair is happy. Sooooo.... what do I do with the rest of the products? Do I really try to use them and potentially ruin my progress? Has anyone had that happen?

Plus my question is: How old can the products be before they're too old to use? I have some that have been sitting on the shelves for years

I used up some Pantene Curl Mask last week that's been sitting around for a couple years. I was so glad to throw that jar in the trash. It was good stuff but I won't re-plenish, plus I don't think they even make it anymore, lol. Instead I will re-plenish it with Pantene R&N deep con mask which is one of my staple deep conditioners.

I used up Lamaur Bone Marrow Treatment. No need to repurchase since I have one backup left (1.99 on clearance at Sally's last month).

I used the last of a tube of All Soft Heavy Cream and will not repurchase.

I think that's it this week.

I've been pretty good but I had to buy some things. I realized that you have to have some things in stash just as backup...so I brought a jar of cholestrol and Suave Humectant.
After than the only product I want to get rid of now is my Garnier Fructesse leave-in (I like NTM more)

This is how I feel...I just discovered Biolage Ultra Hydra Therapy and Fortetherapy line. Perfect moisture / strength combo I have found to date. I have even tried the new Salrem Deep Impact or Wheat Germ condish yet...now I feel bad, I went PJ batty there for a minute. I have a corner left in some ORS moisture lotion that I can use on my feet or something! LOL I don't want to put that stuff in my hair now, it's happy! I know what you mean about not wanting to ruin your progress!!

Oh yes, and another thing, I'm definately throwing the 2 year + old stuff out!!
