I was wondering, once you get to your goal length then what? Do all the buns and baggies stop? I was just thinking about this today. I would like to be able to wear my hair silky straight once in a while or at least wear it down with out having to feel like the devil for flat ironing it.....
I am only 1 month into this healthy hair care and i am already sick of buns and baggying.. Anyone else out there

There are some people here who do not do protective styling and have no problems getting and keeping length. Maybe you could leave your hair down during the day and then put it up somehow at night? Or just use a satin sleep cap at night.

i am pretty good with keeping my hair together at night... I am seeing some growth with what i am doing now, it is just that i am used to looking excellent 90% of the time unless i am in the lab ( you know how it is) this is just sucha change for me :)

i cant commit to protetive styling. i like my length too much

i have started to like non straight hair on me tho and I am slowly getting into that more often.

i think once i do reach my goal length i wont really worry about retaining anymore just maintaining what i have and so i will probably use heat more often but nothing excessive for me. (1ce a month)

My goal for now is classic length. I'll probably wear it down as often as I do now, but still keep it mostly in buns and a few braids. I love the look of a single braid of really long hair.

I wear buns partly to protect my ends but more just to keep my hair out of my face and out of my way.

Well, as a fellow 08'er I defintiely plan to wear it out about at graduation. But other than that...because I'll be in school, protective styles are really going to remain my best friend b/c they don't take any time. ANYWAY, I see not problem with you wearing your hair out...the goal is just maintaining.
