What exactly is MSM's purpose?

I bought a bottle of msm sulphur- and realized "i am not sure what its supposed to do." Can you guys tell me why you use it please?

msm is for bones and joints but seems to aid in growth of hair and nails too
some say if you are sulphur deficient you may experience some texture changes but i havent seen this myself

I bought some MSM and stopped using it but I know when I did use it it sparked a major growth spurt in my scalp and it was itching and stuff. But I think it is used for sulfur to get rid of bacteria in the scalp.

You've gotten good responses but the question is really, "What is MSM NOT good for?" The answer is almost nothing. It's called "nature's beauty mineral." I've been taking it for about 7 years now and it's one of the best supplements EVER, in my opinion. Some people have problems with it but if you can take, TAKE IT

Have you experienced any skin breakouts? I have really sensitive skin, and hesitate trying out all these supplements I have heard of.

I've never had a problem with MSM.. none of the skin issues or the weird menstrual cycle that some experience.

My former gymnastics coach was very knowledgeable about MSM and recommended that I start out taking about 1000mg's a day.. that was 7 years ago. I now take anywhere from 3000-6000.
