Other than moisturizing. I was thinking about this the other night and I realized that my hair was thicker overall when I was baggying. I read where other people saw the same thing. I wonder why. Did this happen to anyone else?

oh hell yeah. I'm attributing my thickness to the baggy method for sure. Prior to November when my hair was relaxed it was really thin, now I have a strong pony, and thick ends.

Why would baggying lead to thickness? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Good question.

I've been baggying consistently for about 3 weeks now, and my hair definitely seems thicker.

Can you all please tell me what baggying is? I've seen it so many times, but I never knew what it was. Also, explain what it does for your hair. I am new to this forum.

Thanks:)

mrs. wright, baggying is basically protecting your ends with a plastic bag. i use the non-ziploc sandwich size ones. after moisturizing my hair all over with curl activator, i apply a heavy pomade or vaseline just to my ends to seal in the moisture. then i put my hair in a ponytail and braid it. i curl the ponytail and put the baggie on it followed by a cutoff stocking or knee-hi stocking. i put a couple of scrunchies around it. i have pics of the whole process in my picturetrail albums.

the reason that i believe that the hair is thicker is because it's being protected from the elements. more than that, friction with clothes is very damaging. since the ends are protected, i don't need to trim as often. so i also get to keep the progress that i make.
