Mainly EVOO. Sometimes I add a few Evening Primrose capsules, too. I find that the natural oil mixtures work better for me than the commercial hot oils.
I like Dabur's Amla Hair Oil and Vatika Coconut Hair Oil mixed with a tingly conditioner like Aura Rosemary Mint Rinse or Fantasia Tea Tree. The Amla has mineral oil in it, but that doesn't bother me because I shampoo it out.
Has anyone used shea butter as a preshampoo treatment? I've recently dumped my hot oil treatments because I found that all they did was coat my hair with no moisture and no extra protection from my shampoo that would be worth the coating that it gave. I'm better off coating my hair with conditioner before shampooing.
I was wondering...has anyone tried shea butter as a pretreatment? I was thinking that that would add some extra softening and moisture as opposed to oil alone.
I used Lekair cholesterol yesterday, turned out great. I usually use olive oil.
This is how I do a pre-shampoo treatment:
Yesterday I applied the cholesterol on dry hair and let it absorb for about 30 min. I jumped in the shower and rinsed it completely from my hair. I then proceded to wash and condition my hair as usual.
When I use olive oil, I apply it in the same manner and use a plastic cap.
I don't do pretreatments weekly anymore. Only when my hair looks/feels really dry.
Right now I'm using glycerin, honey, and olive oil/coconut oil because of the weather and dry heat. In the warmer months I just use honey and olive oil or coconut oil. Every other time I add amla powder to the mix. I think they help my hair with elasticity,smoothness, and softness over time. I can definitely tell the difference when I skip the hot oil treatment.
<font color="brown">For pre-shampoo treatments I use one of the following:
<ul type="square">
[*]Coconut Milk and Honey
[*]Avocado Oil
[*]ApHogee EFA Oil Concentrate
[*]Aveda Sap Moss Nourishing Concentrate
[*]Aubrey Organics Blue Green Algae Hair Mask
[/list]
I don't always do a pre-shampoo treatment. I usually alternate with post-shampoo deep conditioning. In other words, if I plan to deep condition with heat, I don't do the pre-shampoo treatment.
