Thanks to you all I fill better, I am the only black person in my department, they watch everything I do. Crazy I know. But I know they are watching me.
I can not find one of my jackets, I asked one girl if I wore it last week, she had an answer, no its been about two weeks since you wore that jacket.
Crazy they watch me and it can be a little much, my husband thinks I should keep it very conservative until I get to the next level on another promotion.
I disagree with hubby. I think your hair color looks awesome!
On another note...I better not ever hear you complain about your hair lady! It looks gorgeous and so healthy! I'm your hair growing buddy and your hair looks much better than mine does!!!!!!!!!!
It looks great! You must be doing something right if everyone is watching you. You should worry more when they don't : )
Well, I think that it's really difficult to wear a very light color that's more blonde than light brown, very few can pull it off but the ones that can look great. It's hard to say which group you fall into without seeing your face, but the picture you posted looks very pretty and shiny.
I know what it's like to be the only black person and to have everyone noticing every little thing you do. Sometimes in that situation it's not a bad idea to be more conservative in appearance than everyone else.
Maybe your hubby has a point, only because he knows your profession and has seen your hair in person and he doesn't have any motivation to mislead you. I'm kinda leaning towards going with your hubby on this one.
I love it. That's the exact shade I want, how did you get that (apparently I have to grow out my colour for another 6 months before the colourist would touch it)
I understand being watched because you are the only black person in your department... it's like they are waiting to see if you mess up, or if you do something else they categorize us as being the type to do. I couldn't STAND that! If I'm 5 minutes late everybody notices, but if Jessica is 30 minutes late, it's no biggie.
Anyways, just because you are the only black person, doesn't mean you need to stifle your sense of style for them. To me, coloring your hair is a subtle gesture of your creativity. You can still be professional with your hair colored that way. It would be different if you had gone into the red colors, like how some women have the burgandy looking color mixed in their hair...
Besides, it's done and can't be covered up now! It does look good, and if you naturally have light hair anyway, then keep it moving! I'm sure hubby only has your best interest at heart, but I think on this one, too much worrying about something of this nature is not necessary.
W/O seeing your face its hard to give an honest opinion. I dont see why it would be a problem at work regardless though...I mean to me it does not look orange. And if the people you say are watching are caucasian; they go from dark to blonde and back again. So, I wouldn't worry about that.
