As far as everyone's hair journey is going. What do you all think has definately contibuted to healthy hair and length? Also how do some of you all get such sily looking hair

I think the single biggest factor in retaining length, for me, has been switching to seamless combs, giving up brushes, and being VIGILANT about sleeping in satin bonnets and/or on a satin pillowcase.

Limiting the heat by rollersetting!!
Putting down my blowdryer/curling iron/flat iron has saved my ends. Sometimes I have to use my ceramic flat iron right after my rollerset to help smooth out the curlies at the roots but I dont use it on my ends.

Definitely the seamless combs. I like the cheap Jilbere shower comb better than I do my $12 nubone comb!

1. Sleeping in a satin bonnet and sleeping with my hair wrapped in plastic wrap (sound weird, but it saved my ends) has made a huge difference because I get split ends the moment the wind blows. This keeps my hair moisturized and keeps the ends from rubbing together and breaking.

2. Pre-shampoo treatments have attributed to strong, healthy, vibrant hair.

3. For me, figuring out the right products for my hair, consistency, patience and protective styles have allowed me to retain length.

Definately refraining from hand-held heating appliances. So it's strictly the hood dryer for me. And I only do roller wraps.

Daily conditioner washes
Working out
Deep/protein conditioning once a week with GPB
Stretching out my relaxers longer
Keeping up with my regimen

Pantothenic Acid, stretching out relaxers, wearing my hair up while keeping my ends from exposure to the air, moisture, and wrapping my hair with a silk/satin scarf before sleeping.

Taking vitamins...more frequent washes...surge 14...retaining moisture...and I'm going to start stretching out relaxers and trims. You ladies have given me such great advice about hair care.

No heat
Washing/conditioning every 3 days
Protective styles
Wearing silk/satin scarves to bed (satin pillowcase too)

conditioner washes
much less heat.(only use heat when i get a touch up every 8 weeks soon to be extended to 10 then maybe 12 weeks.)

Putting down the blowdryer and curling iron COMPLETELY has helped my hair tremendously. I have fine hair and it can't really take much stress. Also, constant moisture and taking vitamins has really helped my hair to thrive.

1.) Divorcing my flat-iron and temporarily seperating from the blow-drier (I use the cool shot sometimes, but I haven't forgiven it yet for all it's sins). This should be numbers 1-10 for me.

2.) Finding great detangling products (my conditioners!) and using a K-Cutter to get through this stuff.

3.) Keeping my hair moisturized, and giving extra attention to the last 2 inches of my hair w/conditioner.

Taking vitamins
Conditioning more
Little to no heat
Sleeping in a satin scarf

Conditioner washes
Less heat styling (Used to use curling iron daily)
Handling wet hair very gently (Using detangling products)
Moisture (usually S-Curl followed by oil to lock in the moisture)

1. stretching relaxers
2. no heat
3. way less trimming
4. conditioner washes
5. protein
6. moisture

Strectching out relaxers
S-curl

There are so many but some of the most effective ones are

1)Shampooing and deep conditioning weekly
2)taking vitamins
3)Using moisturizer on hair and scalp (instead of Grease)
4)sleeping in my satin Bonnet
5)Getting rid of curling iron and flat iron

Just to name a few

I think the co-washes have mad a difference..i'm startin to see less breakage and faster growth

I'd have to say that the things I believe have made the biggest difference in my retaining growth are: not using heat (except when I get a retouch), treating my ends with tender loving care (keeping them moisturized, wearing protective hair styles), not letting my hair get dry/brittle. I've found that the key for me is moisture and protecting my ends. Another thing I've changed is that I now touch up every 3 months instead of every month (also, I've switched to lye which I feel improved the quality of my hair).

Before I got onto hair boards I always wore a phoney pony, but my hair never past a certain length.

The absolutely best tip is to put the plastic wrap around my piggie tail then put the phoney-pony on. That has done wonders in my world!

The satin bonnet and scalp messages are also great tips.
