Do u use shea butter? If so how much, in what form, and how often? Can shea butter be applied to the scalp?

The only way I can use it is mixed with oils. By itself it goes on nicely but then drys stiff. My hair feels coated and dry. Mixed with oils on damp hair it's great.

I don't like the solid shea butter that has to be melted. It seemed to build up and gave my hair a waxy look. I didn't think it was very good for my hair. I do like liquid shea butter/shea oil though. The solid portion has been removed, leaving just the oil. I mix it with Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner and use it as a deep conditioner weekly. I also mix it with essential oils and use as a hot oil treatment.

I use it in a mixture with essential oils..There is a recipe that I use that is similar to the one posted on the Hair Recipe Board..
The post is called Coconut Rose Butter mix. I haven't added the rose geranium oil, but I also used aloe vera gel and will add avocado butter to it.

I really like using it this way, I have not used pure shea butter because it is rather expensive. My hair has never been as moisturized and has grown A LOT with this formula. Unfortunately, I have run out and will have to make some more.
