whenever i feel like i'm not getting anywhere with my hair and that i should just give up and let the evil doers win, i go back and i look at my before pictures to see how far i've come. i also have a few hair albums i like to visit (Adrienne0914 anyone?). and last but not least, i love to picture my friend's reactions to my APL hair or longer. so what other tips do you ladies have?

I look at albums too when I don't feel motivated. Adrienne, Supergirl, Sherrylove, Southerngirlz,SO1913, are a few that have helped me remember not to get too scissor happy and give up.

Now I try to do at home treatments (henna)-all hooked up and disguised like a spa treatment, music, candles, wine, a good book. It keeps me focused on the caring part of haircare, not just growth.

I talk to my hair buddies.

For inspiration, there are too many ladies around here who has that part covered!;)

I stalk albums.

I guess its too soon for me to feel discouraged cos i just joined last month, but i know that something about seeing people's before and afters inject fire in my blood.

This may sound odd, but i tend to stalk people that started with very short hair...If i feel discouraged and i stalk albums of people with gorgeous extra long hair, i'd just feel overwhelmed!

I was feeling down the other day because my hair's growth rate has tremendously slowed down, then this girl looked at my hair and was complementing how shiny it is so that perked me up, I'm thankful that it's strong healthy and thick, the length must be next. Besides getting a complement about your hair when you're 9 weeks post relaxed and no one can see those dredded roots is good.

Sylver2's/Rah's hair is beaUtiful and so lush in person.
Caribean your hair is looking fuller and healthier. You have made great progress. I wish you well and much luck in your hair endeavors.:)

Since my hair goals are simply not to be relaxed, locked into a set style, low maintenance and simple freedom from a stylist I don't have many discouraging days. I was addicted to color so I miss that sometimes but then I don't want the long term commitment it entails. :(

I'm hair lazy but I definitely admire Sylver2 and others that are not.

When I feel frustrated I like to look at my old pics!! I have been completely bald( by choice) just 2 years ago and I know I've come a long way!! I also look at past pics when my hair was longer (ApL) and it was relaxed every 4-6 weeks. Then I think, heck if it grew fried, dyed, and laid to the side, the sky is the limit now:lol: ! And when that doesn't do it for me I stalk JenniferMD, Machiereamour, Isis, Sistaslick, Kitchentician, and Candy C( to name a few...) fotki's and say, I Can Do This;)

awww.. thanks Firecracker! oh and Henrietta i do tend to stalk people who started with my hair length or shorter too. that way i know what to expect in a year or so.

I go look at hairalbums of people who have beautiful hair and/or have reached a milestone length I want to reach too.

I also have a few albums that I stalk when I feel down (Anky is like the number one album I stalk because her hair used to be the same length as mine is now and WOW what progress!).

I also do the spa treatment thing.

I feel so discouraged now..thinking this whole grow hair long thing is impossible for me..i need to go to few albums to get encouragement!

I do all of the things above and on the weekends, I stay on the boards all night soaking up wisdom from all of the ladies here. (Dont have time during the week.) The past 2 days, I have got up the nerve to actually post. Posting definitely helps the discouragement because I feel as if I am a part of a team that has a goal - LONG hair.

I mostly think of how my hair used to look. My mother never sent me to a beautician-she straightened it,trimmed it, and braided it. I HAD "long hair". The week I left home I cut it. If you are old enough to know, I did the "Salt and Peppa" thing. You know the eighties female rappers. Shaved the sides, fish tail, and peroxide bleached the front. In the 90's, I joined the weavers and never looked back. My mother has not seen my "Real" hair in over 6 yrs - no kidding. Yeah, I just aged myself. Bottom line, I am experiencing growth in just a few weeks with little to no breakage. Those thoughts keep me growing, feeling better and my debit/credit card ready!

Im going through this now..
I start of by pouting, then washing myhair like 3 times a week..

Then Ill go look at some of my fave fotki's .. like Sylver2, lauren450 and Kinikakes and try and get my game up

I look at my own pics and a few of the ladies here, and remind myself that growing healthy hair takes time and patience. :)

Yea i stalk albums too, that really helps. Or I just make up my mind again to spend a week really focusing on my hair and to get back to my regimen, or change it as needed. And, I keep a hair diary or I look at my own album to remind myself that i'm slowly but surely progressing...

Vent on my LHCF buddies, stalk ablums, and look at my before and after pictures. If I can go from bald in the back to almost APL then I have make this trip to BSL.

I might lurk more than not but this site is always awsome at pumping me up and out of my hair funks. It inspires me to keep trying and constantly gives me ideas to try. I look at all the beautiful heads of hair (natural and relaxed!) and it really pushes me to think I can do it.

I look at all the lovely heads of the ladies on this board for encouragement:)

ITA. Everyone on here gives me encouragement and inspiration. From the Ladies whose hair is very healthy and long, to the ladies that are struggling. ;) Truth of the matter, we all have been at that breaking point whether we knew it or not. I just try to keep my head up, and not try to stress myself out about something so simple as my hair. (but that is verrrry hard:ohwell: )

I havent felt discouraged in a while....That is sooo amazing

But when I do feel discouraged...I stop coming to the hair care tips and product review forum...usually thinking so much about hair makes me down....if I just leave it alone and let it be...it works out much better :)

I feel though that right now...I am at that happy medium...

This is one of the reasons I am so happy I have kept progress pics along the way. They really remind me of how far I've come. I usually feel much better after I look at them. I also like to look at fotkis and pics of people who have made great progress. Hair forums are great, too.
