I read a thread a looooooong time ago but cant find it now, about what you can do to prep your scalp or use on it as a base to get a nice touch up with minimal or no damage. I had my first relaxer in 7 years back at the start of august and going to get a touch up at the start of november. I had two little scabs or a bit of scalp irritation but babied my scalp with aloe afterward and it was ok. what can I use as a nice base or pre conditioner this time around? TIA y'all!

My stylist bases my scalp well. I use Mizani Butter Blend relaxer system. It comes with it's own butter blend base.

After the last wash before my touch-up (usually 1 week before) I oil my scalp with castor oil. Then the night before my touch-up and the morning of(right before I relax) I base my scalp with Vitale Base creme. By doing this method, I had absolutely no burns or scabs.

I lightly oil my scalp the night before. That's usually enough for me.

Thanks for this tip, I'll have to try this with my next relaxer.

vaseline usually, but if I had been scratching I'd use stinky dax 2-3 days prior lol

I base my scalp with Barry Fletcher's Liquid Moisture Hair & Body Oil. For some reason that works better for me than anything else with stopping burning during relaxing.

I use Optimum scalp quencher and I keep it in the fridge so it goes on nice and cool. It's the best scalp base I have used so far.
