What do you base your HAIR with?

I'm getting really nervous about oveprocessing and overlapping because I've decided to move my touch ups up to every 2 months instead of every 3 months because it's simply too difficult to comb and some hairs are breaking because of the texture difference even though my new growth is moisturized and I use my wide tooth comb. So it's become even more important for me to protect my already processed hair (if relaxer gets on the old part, I could lose my curl too, 'cause I'm texturized) so I was wondering...does anyone use pretroleum jelly to base their ACTUAL HAIR and not just their scalp or hairline? I want to make sure no relaxer can penetrate my hair in those sections. Or I was thinking olive oil too, but that seems like it would run and get on the parts that I need relaxed. What do you think about a vaseline/olive oil mixture and then a THOROUGH THOROUGH rinse and shampoo and clarifying 3 days later?

I think that plan will work great. When I do my touchups, I use petroleum jelly/hairgrease and it works well for me. I part my hair in four sections, then divide each section up and base the actual hair with the grease/petroleum jelly and base the scalp with a petroleum like scalp protector.

I use Creme of Nature Scalp protector which you can also use on your previously relaxed hair to protect it. It also has a nozzle making it easy to get directly on the scalp.

The last time I got a re-touch I used BB Super Gro to base my scalp with good results. I used leave in conditioner to protect my previously relaxed hair. You probably could use the Super Gro on your actual hair, it just seems like it might be difficult to evenly distribute it on the hair itself since it has such a thick consistency. But sectioning your hair first is a really good idea, it would probably work then. I'll have to remember that for my next re-touch.

Thank you so much A Christian for your suggestion - I think I'll do it! I'm thinking of putting on my leave-in conditioner and maybe coating it with some BB.

Flyjump - Thank you also. I noticed the BB has petroleum(among other great ingredients) so that sounds like a really good protector for this.

The thing with using petroleum based or mineral based products is that it takes a longer time for the perm to take due to the cloggage those types of products cause
