What can I use instead of bobby pins?

I have neck length to barely shoulder length hair, and am bunning for growth this year. I am just at the point where I'm beginning to see my hair thickening up and looking healthier. I am afraid that my use of bobby pins is going to set me back but I don't know what else to use until my hair gets longer. Any suggestions?

btw, I make sure to toss them when the rubber comes off the ends

I triple co-sign on the GHD pins - they are fabulous and a wonder. I've seen the Goody's knockoff in Kmart, as well.
